Barista Coffee at Home!
Take a short while to familiarise yourself with this fantastic machine (read the instructions even! ) and you will soon be making coffee shop quality espresso at home, I certainly am. Yes, it drips a little that would be the incredible 15bar of pressure, most home appliances are 3.5bar. I simply leave a mug underneath! Otherwize, there is a massive drip tray there. Choose a good quality ground coffee, I purchase mine from our local Italian shop inexpensively. Even have a choice, I use punchy strength 9 in the morning but offer guests something a little more appropriate for an afternoon cup. I absolutely love this easy to use machine (eyes half shut in the morning!) and cannot recommend it highly enough, value for the money is outstanding. For the gentleman who doesn't know how to turn his off, hold the button for 3 seconds. For the gentleman who leaves the water running, depress the button! Many thanks Andrew James, I'm saving a fortune on coffee shops and wide awake 1st thing!

Very good value for money
Very good value for money! I love cappuccinos & cafe lattes; but I'm always in a hurry and want a nice, simple machine that produces good quality coffee in a short time. I don't want to spend hours learning to use it & I don't want to spend an arm & a leg on the cost of the machine. I'm relieved that the instructions were easy & I'm enjoying good quality coffee once again! If you're a barrista , feel free to spend over £250 on a fancy machine; but if, like me, you're a busy mum with no time, this is perfect!

Good cheap espresso machine
I've had this since the 12th December.I'll be honest here, this machine was to replace a virtually dead Morphy Richards Accents espresso machine which, given how little I descaled it, survived pretty well and for it's price made a pretty good espresso. This year I'll be moving from a definitely hard water area to a relatively soft water area so I wasn't going to splash out on the machine I really wanted, which is the Sage Duo Temp. So buying this is a stop-gap until I'm somewhere that won't ruin an espresso machine in short order. With that out of the way, I must say that I'm reasonably impressed with the Andrew James Barista. For the price, the taste is great and the crema it produces is excellent. I'm not a 'coffee tosser' so I don't grind my own beans and use pre-ground coffee. I tend to use Illy espresso grind (the stuff that comes in tins; pro-tip, when you peel off the lid with the tab, do it slooooowly!) but I have put other espresso grind coffees through it and they all produce pretty much the same level of quality coffee. The only major flaw is it shakes when making, boy does it shake. I have to hold my little espresso cup in position or it shuffles out of position and the drip tray gets my coffee! I'm toying with the idea of putting some rubber feet underneath the drip tray cover to see if that will isolate it from the vibration.Oh and you get the odd bit of dripping of water from the feed when the sump isn't in place. The steam wand is okay. Doesn't produce quite the pressure that the Accents did but it's good enough to froth milk well enough to make a flat white or a cappuccino.Other than that it does work pretty well, especially for the price, which for espresso machines generally makes it virtually disposable. So yeah, it's probably not a long term safe bet, especially if you're not religious about descaling but if you fancy an espresso machine on the cheap this works pretty well.

Cheap in price but expensive in the long run.
I bought this Coffee maker having read some of the reviews where the buyers complained of the mains switch breaking after a couple of days and the low build quality. Thinking those customers unlucky as we had bought an Andrew James blitzer 3 years ago which has been good and solid I decided to give it a try as I could always return it if it went wrong? On unpacking I noted that the comments about low build quality were evident. The 3 button switches were labelled with stick on transfers, the sort that slowly start to dissapear after they have been wiped over a few times. The plastic was thin and the metal parts used very thin metal. The steamer did not pull out enough to get the nozzle fully into a milk jug so hard to get properly frothed milk. For espresso it was OK sort of. There was some but not a lot of crema on top and the pump was quite noisy and seemed to be struggling considering it was brand new. The price of the unit is low and unfortunately it shows throughout the product and I can't see the unit having a great lifetime. After 4 days (8 coffees) the push button mains switch failed a fault that has been reported by others on this review site.Having read how common this same fault is I conclude that this is some sort of batch failure with the switches and rather than sort the problem out the supplier is continuing to sell them and hoping for the best with the customer being the tester. However even if the switch had continued to work I couldn't see the unit lasting very long, the poor old pump was banging away trying to do something it just wasn't up to. For milk coffee it was plain rubbish. To add insult to injury I returned my item according to instruction and yet the supplier refused to honour their agreement and refund my postage despite following their instructions so all in all 8 expensive coffees. Plus the hassle of having to box it up and send it off.My advise would be buy another make from someone more reputable as something seems to have happened with Andrew James. They were good but this product is extremely shoddy and you will be needing a replacement soon.

Mixed quality
Our previous Andrew James machine was superb. This newer replacement is of much poorer quality, although less expensive. We were annoyed to discover that the unit is £10 less on the Andrew James site ! On arrival we couldn't get the water flow to work but this eventually remedied itself. As reported elsewhere the coffee produced is ok but seems to be weaker & the cup heater barely functions. To be fair though, you get what you pay for and the coffee is ok.
