A steam generator is much more efficient. This broke after 6 months and I no reply from the company. Takes longer to iron and clothes still look creased. Have purchased a new Steam Generator by John Lewis and it is brilliant, it has cut my ironing time down by half. **Q: Does it come with a Guarantee?** A: Guarantees are irrelevent and pointless. The sale of goods act, makes the seller responsible not the maker, and products should be fit for purpose for up to six years. **Q: Does this iron make a lot of noise? I currently have a morphy richards steam generator iron which is very noisy.** A: Very little noise. There's no steam pressure noise as there's no steam function - the way it works is through a spray and it irons well. It beeps to tell you when it's at the right temperature and a safety feature if left unattended but other than that it's quite and makes less noise than all my previous irons. It also makes no mess unlike steam irons. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ A great idea, which doesn't quite work.... *by C***0 on 1 November 2016* Given the price of this iron, I'd spent quite some time deliberating before making the decision to buy and, for those in the same position, I wanted to give some candid feedback which can hopefully assist.In short, my experience leads me to believe that the iron, whilst conceptually brilliant, fails to live up to the expectations. That combined with multiple technical issues mean that unfortunately, I'm now looking for a new iron....Pros:The iron looks great.It's much lighter than a comparable steam generator and doesn't heat up a room in the same way during use.The glass sole plate is a great innovation: being glass it doesn't melt/ burn delicate fabrics irrespective of the temperature setting.There's no heating of water, so no build up of residue as is common in steam generators.The Cons:The unit is loud. Pulling the trigger to generate the "vapour" leads to a loud pumping sound as water is fed from the base to the hand unit. This isn't something you can use if you want to remain relatively quiet/ hold a conversation with someone.The glass sole plate fails to get hot enough. Even on the highest setting the iron isn't effective on a vast array of items: shirts, skirts, jumpers..... basically anything that isn't still wet. In my opinion, this is a major problem with the unit (but is also probably the reason that the iron doesn't burn/ melt delicate fabrics).The glass sole plate is something of a gimmick. While it helps to see creases while you're ironing, if you can see then under the sole plate.....they've already been ironed into the fabric.And finally, the technical issues:I'm now onto my second unit which was sent after the first one broke. Unfortunately the second has now given up the ghost. With the first unit, I quickly found that the vapour spray stopped working. The unit would make the appropriate sound, but no vapour would be produced. This seems to be a common problem with the iron (so much so, that it is the first troubleshooting step in the manual) and is apparently caused by a build up in the spray system (similar to a steam generator, which this iron's lack of heated water is meant to relieve). Following said troubleshooting steps I was still unable to resolve the issue. I contacted Morphy Richards directly who were very helpful and quickly arranged for a replacement to be delivered. On its third outing the replacement has now broken. This time there seems to be a fundamental power failure in the device. As soon as it is switched on the unit powers down indicating a problem somewhere. Morphy Richards are at a loss and so would like to provide me with another replacement.As mentioned as the outset, given the price of this item, this seems to be a problem too far. While the look and idea of this iron is amazing, the product still feels like a beta release and still needs a large number of problems "ironing" out. If the idea of this iron appeals, you might be better served buying a dry iron and a manual spray gun which will produce the same type of "vapour" at a fraction of the cost, noise and overall unit size.I hope this helps anyone out there who is contemplating taking the plunge with this iron. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ....and now for something completely different *by F***T on 24 December 2018* This is not like any iron you have ever seen before. It’s a really gorgeous design and it works. I’m not sure what Morphy Richards were thinking of when then introduced this for £250 - it’s never worth that sort of money - but I paid £59 and for that, it’s a bit of a steal. I have been using dry irons recently (with a water spray nearby) because I got fed-up with steam irons furring-up, spitting out sh*t and then breaking down. I cannot tell yet about the longevity of this product but the vapour mist concept is very effective and seems to work very well for me. It’s much quicker than a dry iron with a separate water spray and I am getting better results than with any steam iron I have ever used. It also has a 10 minute inactivity shut-off feature, which I think should be mandatory for all irons but is actually quite difficult to find on a simple dry iron.
