Fantastic DAC and headphone amp
I bought this Eversolo DAC-Z8 after reading the audiosciencereview post about it. I thought it looked good, and the measurements and user feedback was all excellent, too. It seemed pretty much perfect so why not get it?It replaced a Benchmark DAC1 USB for me, which I've had for many years. Strictly speaking, I didn't need a new DAC. I just wanted one, and the VU meters look really cool to me. I just need a box on my desk with an optical & usb input, a big volume knob, rear XLR outputs for studio monitors, and front headphone jack for headphones. This has all that, and bluetooth too! I havent used the bluetooth feature much other than to verify it works - which it does.It looks great, it works great. I have zero complaints. If you are an audiophile, please trust that this device sounds fantastic because it certainly does. It plays nice with my headphones from Audeze LCD-XC to Fostex TH900MKII and Audio Technica ATH-WBLTD and Denon AH-D7000. If you're not so much an audiophile and believe DACs don't matter so much - well, sure, it's far beyond human audible levels of transparency and clarity or whatever, but so are most modern DACs. Assuming any decent DAC is going to work perfectly fine, then the selling point for this one is the look & feel. The look & feel were worth the price for me, so there you have it. A great DAC for the modern age!

Audiophile Heaven with the right synergy
Just get one lol. The sound, the build, the presentation are just 👌 sublime. Remember to do the update, you’ll have to find 56 on a forum or something like that, for whatever reason the Eversolo website doesn’t have it available on the downloads page. I use this with a Bluesound Node 132, my Sony 4k bluray/SACD Player, and LG 4ktv. This is the height of HiFi diminishing returns. I’m very happy with this setup, it all looks great together, highlighted by those VU Meters lol!

Works well
I purchased the Eversolo DAC Z8 after reading the a performance evaluation by Audio Science Review. This DAC tested bar better than many more expensive brands. After a week, having tried all input options, I'm impressed. FLAC files read as DSD using the USB B input, and PC reveal details I hadn't heard before from recordings, including from my $5k Marantz player. The USB C input performed well, also.Headphones perform excellent. The graphics are fun with four options, including no display.I was skeptical about the quality of anything input through Bluetooth, but the audio is surprisingly improved. The balanced XLR outputs are a big plus. I use a pair of XLRs from Amazon Basics, which cost less than $7 each, which work as good as XLRs priced much higher.I would offer on bit of advice. DACs can make a difference, but only if you have good speakers. Nothing is going to make a pair of subpar speakers sound better than their limits.Amazon shipped the Eversolo quickly and it was well packed.

Excellent DAC
Since this is my first separate DAC in the sea of DACS this one stood out to me. I can truly say that the sound quality exceeded my expectation with a huge noticeable improvement in my modest setup. Cannot wait to test the limits of this DAC. Love the many facets of the display window, I just wish it was just a bit larger. All in all, I am in love with this piece! Nice Job EverSolo! Highly recommended!

Does what its supposed to do!
I purchased this DAC for use with my Audiolab 6000CDT as both a DAC and a pre-amp. Set-up of the unit required only a few menu choices using the supplied remote, I plugged in the coaxial cable between the two units, then used the RCA outputs from the unit into my amp, and life was good.Like other users have said, the VU meters aren't really all that visible from a listening distance but are a nice touch. I personally went with the green/blue motif. I don't really use the remote since I control my CD transport with its own remote and I control the volume with the remote for my amp. You might find the unit itself to be smaller than expected and is the same width as the Eversolo DMP A-6, if you're familiar with that streamer. I haven't tried using the DAC with that unit but I may give it a try.Sound-wise, I found the quality to be dependent upon how well the CD had been recorded or mastered in the first place, but the sound quality and separation really shown when playing something like a Tears for Fears CD. I am overall very pleased with the purchase.

GOOD REPUTATION
I purchased this based on the positive feedback on YouTube. It was as good as they said it was. Except it was too complex for my 65 year old brain to fathom. I returned it for a no hassled. I had tried out 5 similar units before deciding on a new amplifier.

Not a good 'value'
Expensive DACs may not be a good value because the improvement in sound quality becomes marginal as you spend more money, and you can achieve similar quality for a lower price with other components like Schiit Audio.
