King Arthur (Director's Cut)

Something for everyone!
A change from the usual portrayals of Merlin doing what wizards do, Arthur not being anything but a king and Guinevere being nothing but decoration. The characters have depth and meaning. There is such a good range of characters and it is interesting to see how they relate to each other. The film has drama, action, intrigue, betrayal, comedic moments and plenty of action. I like the dialogue and the passion of the leading characters. The film deals well with issues like loyalty, duty and disillusionment. The director has done an amazing job of bringing this well known story to life with a highly talented cast. Excellent!

An interesting and entertaining take on the Arthurian legend based upon the theory that Arthur was not in fact a king but a military leader with Roman affiliations. There was no magic, no excalibur and no Camelot nor any of the mystique traditionally surrounding the legend of King Arthur. There was just Arthur, a general, leading his knights in various battles with the Woads (Picts?) and the Saxons. Of course there was Lancelot, his right hand man and Guinevere, an unlikely albeit attractive female warrior, but not Arthur's Queen. A generally entertaining film presented in Glorious Blu-ray with excellent video and sound quality. The battle scenes were spectacular and well choreographed and the cinematography superb. Generally recommended.

Enjoyable
For such a rich character as King Arthur, there really isn’t many decent block buster films about him. This ones not bad, easy watching and plenty of action. Some decent acting, well Ray Winstone is Ray Winstone, Keira Knightly tries for a couple is scenes then becomes Keira Knightly, but the others put in a decent effort. All in all and enjoyable film not to be taken seriously

Too much in one film and poorly cast leads. Good supporting actors and simple fun.
I've given a middle rating as the product itself was in perfect condition and lived up to every expectation. The film is fun to watch when there's nothing else to do. The supporting actors were great with what little they were given, and the idea itself had a lot of potential. The leads, Clive Owen and Keira Knightly, however, were disappointing to say the least. They didn't have any chemistry and the whole thing felt forced between them. There was more romance between Bors (Ray Winstone) and the mother of his children. I wanted more screen time of the minor Sarmatians, but they wasted Ray Winstone, Mads Mikkelsen, Joel Edgerton and Hugh Dancy on simple 'filling' where they should have been building the plot. Their actions should have told us what the characters dreamed. The pretty sets and clever costuming were highlights, certainly. But the storyline didn't feel like it had much depth due to how much happened with the little time given. Perhaps if they cast different leads and had more time, they'd embody the vastness of the mission and forge stronger bonds between the characters. (You don't even get told that Bors and Dagonet are brothers.)And I do have one question... Why does Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd) narrate it in a Welsh accent, but act with an English one?

A brilliant film
Some films just get you where it matters. This is a brilliant film with good actors. They have played with history a bit but this is the Dark Ages - who knows the real truth.

Pearl harbor was rubbish
The directors cut is not the slow Mo. blood splatter version downloaded form the net back in the day. Also one fo the best lines was removed. It's as long as a babies arm holding an apple. Carnt see there the extra minutes come from that's different from the TV version. Oh well one for the collection.

In accurate history.
A good film, not actuate to history and more effort should of been made to recreate the facts. some great actors in this movie but not sure it's a good role for Kiera Knightly. Would she really of been fighting a war in leather bra and knickers? All the men have body armour and protection from the cold but she walks around in thin dresses or her skimpy leather outfit!!! One of ioan Gruffudds best performances as Lancelot. Clive Owen, Mads Mikkelsen, Ray Winston etc all great entertainment. Shame about the wardrobe department and the history lesson. But a good watch.
