I use a vax steam cleaner but only use their products which includes wooden floors but I only use their product. As for Simple Solution Extreme on tiled floors not a problem but I have never used this product on a wooden floor.. I would err on the side of caution meaning don't - it is pretty powerful stuff. Hope this helps.

That's what it's made for; depending on the type of carpet cleaning machine. I would think it would be fine with all the domestic types. Mine is a hot water spray and vacuum machine and it's great, you don't need a lot.
