The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hormone Weight Loss: Put Your Hormones to Work for You and Your Waistline Review: great book - My wife has tried many ways to slim down after having 2 kids. From pills to shakes to exercise but it is not effective as reading this book. It spells out the truth about FOOD and how it could either help us stay fit or make us look like a ball. It also teaches us how to exercise effectively and maximise every workout. Who says you need to run/jog to lose weight? Read this and you will find out how. Review: Very helpful. - The doctor who wrote the book explains why our bodies are no longer functioning properly within the lives that we live. Armed with that information I was able to put together a way of eating and a balance of vitamins and minerals that are helping me with my weight loss.

Really learning alot
I was a calorie counter for a solid 6 months only to lose 10lbs - think I have gained 4 of those back. It can be stressful and overwhelming to keep up. I learned most from this book that the type of calories matter and that the body can easily be set out of balance by the foods we eat. I have started integrating the "whole food" approach into my meals and I read a little more of the book every evening. Really enjoying the choices I am making now. Not getting caught up in serving sizes. I am going at my own pace trying to work my way up to the full eating plan. I have only been trying it for a few days and with slow integration. It is going just fine - not overwhelmed, not thinking about food constantly.

Great book
Has lots of good information. Exactly what I was looking for. Have entered those menopause years and needed a little more insight as to how to handle those problems that have become harder to handle on my own.

Presents many things with no basis in scientific evidence as fact but has some relevant features about hormones.
This book contains many medical fallacies, although written by an MD. It does however present a clear picture about insulin resistance and hormones. Specifically, the author goes way overboard on the topic of toxins and ways to get rid of them. The principal way the body clears "toxins" is through the liver and the kidney. Going to a sauna will have no effect, and "colonic hydrotherapy" which is a fancy way to describe enemas, has been debunked in the medical literature for decades. As for inflammation, there is no connection between dairy products and inflammation and the the author's statement that skim milk has additives in it to replace the fat removed is patently false. Recent research has suggested that to loose weight it may be more effective to have some fat in milk because it increases satiety, that is the feeling of being full longer. All that being said, the author does present some interesting points about hormones, and how they work in the body.

I like the clear information about hormones and will definitely refer back to it. Some of the information I didn’t agree with. But I definitely agreed with the reviewer who talked about the book going overboard about toxins! Overall it is a useful book with positive and helpful advice on healthy living. But the saddest thing is, that it didn’t help Dr Stanton because when I Googled her, it seems that she died not that long after the book was published. I think it would be a good idea to update the information about the author. But finally thank you Dr Stanton for leaving us this gift.
