Almost perfect
I was realy looking forward to receivingb this item because I had looked everywhere for one, Books, Shops, and the Internet without success until Amazon came to the rescue, so you can imagine my delight when it arrived well within its alloted time of arrival. I opened the package in great anticipation only to find the cord very short and not long enough to connect my 2 appliances together (TV on wall and Blue Ray on unit) so I had to go and buy a scart extention and connect that way. Yippee success, everything works so now I can go to bed and rest assured that if I wanted to see a film, I can. Over all this is a good product, if the cord was longer it would be an excellent product.

The original one worked WELL, but due to poor design, the load is too heavy on the bit that look like a HDMI [but do not mistake it for a HDMI as there is no such thing as a SCART to HDMI] and that tiny HDMI [look alike] just can't handle the weight of a male to male SCART lead, connected into the female end of this item. No matter how much I tried I could not get the the HDMI [look alike] to reconnect to the TV. So I took a chance and bought another. It also won't reconnect to the TV. [Yes I know that the sides have to be squeezed in when trying to reconnect the HDMI [look alike] into the TV.As far as I am concerned it is a 0 star item and a Samsung design fault. In stead of this "stupid" connector, Samsung could have provided a female SCART integrated into the TV. Yes, I know that SCART has had its' day, but why should I be forced to throw out perfectly good equipment just because the TV has no input SCART? I see others who have rated it a 5 star item. My rating is based on my experience. i wish that the replacement had of worked as i would have given it 4 stars. -1 because of the poor positioning of the device on the TV.How can Samsung expect a male to male SCART lead, one end connected to the female end of this "contraption" with all this hanging on [by the skin of its' teeth to the HDMI (look alike)?

Does what it's meant to - why wouldnt it? Its just wires and connectors.
Does what it's meant to - connected an old vcr / dvd player to a smart telly. What else can be said? Some purchasers have complained about the weight of the scart lead being carried entirely by the fragile and small RGB plug/socket - they are of course mostly inept (to be kind) - simply support the weight of the scart plug / lead with a cable tie attached to the back of your telly. If no convenient slot to feed a cable tie through there are plenty of adhesive cable tie mounts available from Maplin etc roughly 10p each !

Does the job.
I bought this for a Philips flat screen TV and it fits and works just fine. It coverts a 'standard' SCART connector to the smaller connector required to connect to more modern TVs where HDMI prevails and a single 'mini' SCART socket is provided.I have connected a VHS player to the TV and the picture works just fine. But the audio did not. I had to connect a separate audio connection into my AV amp to get stereo.

Genuine Samsung LED LCD & PLASMA Scart
Electronically it works OK the problem we had was putting the wall mounted 46"TV back as the RGB plug kept falling out from the TV socket due to the weightof the scart socket/plug. We had 3 attempts at this and in the end we tiedthe scarts with ribbon to the TV metal mounting brackets and success followed.

As required
It does what it needs to do, is original equipment so no complaint about the product. Problem leading to replacement is with the Samsung TV design, basically there is too much weight on the non Scart end and this failed. Item needs to be very well supported to prevent a re occurrence.
