Would it measure steps taken on a treadmill? Or is it measure by GPS?

It can only measure steps but it is able to distinguish between walking and running. As part of the Lifelog app you can set your own stride length if you know it, otherwise it will automatically configure it depending on your height.

Will this work with my S3mini ? Android 4.1?

No it requires android 4.4 kit kat or above. Also you would miss out on some key features that are only compatible with Sony phones. I realise the last bit was unnecessary as I already said it wasn't compatible but thought I would say anyway! Also I can't vouch for the accuracy of the readings although I think this is the case with alot of the stand alone wrist mounted devices. Wow, also unnecessary but I'm on a roll! Hope this helps.

FOR 20 POUNDS IS IT JUST THE BAND OR THE WHOLE UNIT ?

I paid £40 for the whole unit. And even if the price has dropped to £20 for the whole unit. That's still to much money

Is this product just the wristband, or does it include the actual logging device?

It comes with a Large and Small wrist band and the white little logging device :-)
