Asian Kitchen Stainless Steel Folding Hot Dish Plate Clip Plate Retriever Tongs

I use this model for moving plates into and out of a stainless steel steamer. It works as expected and is easy to use. I generally lift the plate with the tongs using one hand, and hold a pot holder underneath the plate in case I slip or loosen my grip accidentally. I have had no spills, but I think it's a worthwhile precaution.Without a tool like this, using a steamer with plates and bowls would be unpleasant because of the heat of the rising steam and the heat of the plates or bowls.

I bought this to take Corning dishes out of my air fryer since I kept burning my wrists. I just wish it had silicon on the gripping part. Otherwise, works great.

This is a very handy little gadget. It is not very strong, but strong enough to lift the steamer trays I bought with it and designed in such a way that as the weight of the tray pulls down as you lift it out of the pan, the gadget closes tighter on the tray. The trays were nice--three sizes, strong, but lightweight. And this lifting gadget works nicely to lift the trays out of the pan/pot. Do not attempt to use it on folding steamer baskets though--it's handiness is only for straight, non-folding steamer trays. As the usual store bought folding steamer baskets seem to break with use (i.e., the folding panels break away from the main central part of the basket), using this gadget with non-folding steamer trays is a very, very good choice of purchase!

This small inexpensive tool to lift small bowls out of a steamer pot worked great! Love it! Kept my hands away from hot steam.

For heavier items, you might prefer the DEFUTAY product, but I would recommend you wrap the bottom grap wires with self-clinging silicone tape for a more secure grip on your heavy plate, for which case it works great.
