This book explains philosophy to kids in an easy-to-understand way, using simple text and fun illustrations. It is the perfect introduction to the great thinkers who, from ancient times to the modern day, have tried to make sense of the world by asking questions such as: "Who am I?", "Is the world real?", "Is it ever right to tell a lie?". Meet Socrates and Confucius, Kant and Sartre, and many others who have studied and pondered on the complexities of everyday life. Looking at the major philosophical theories, The Children's Book of Philosophy brings big ideas within the reach of young minds. It examines the problems that have puzzled people for hundreds, or even thousands, of years, working through them in clear and logical stages. The book's lively approach is designed to encourage children to start thinking for themselves and to show them that anyone be a philosopher. Review: Best children's philosophy book - I was looking for a book like this for ages and bought a few that I was disappointed in. This one is great - I read it regularly with my daughter (7) and it is accessible, yet covers a lot of philosophy and is as interesting for adults too. I'm not sure how she would get along reading it alone though, but I wanted one that we could read together anyway. Review: Children's Book of Western Philosophy - - Excellent book for children without patronising them or becoming childish. But the usual Western world view in starting the book with a sentence saying something like "philosophy and the first philosophers started in Greece", as if there were no Chinese thinkers, Indian thinkers or any other before or around that time - oh come on, grow up - the book does refer to Buddha in one page, and a picture of Shiva at another - OK Ok I forgive you - but how many times I should keep on doing that - anyway, the book with its text and pictures and information and smell is excellently recommended.

Perhaps better for slightly older children but has helped me lots ...
Answers a lot of questions that my 6 year old has. Perhaps better for slightly older children but has helped me lots when my daughter asks big life questions. It's quite an interesting read for grown ups too!

Lovely Book
This is a large format book with nice illustrations. It seems to be set out clearly and is easy to follow. My son has started to be interested in the big questions so I'm hoping he enjoys this.

Even adults can learn from this!
Absolutely ace book! I love it. Yes it is for kids but it has entertained me for hours too. I bought this for my little daughter who doesn’t understand it yet but it has been a big hit within the house with adults! 😂

Brilliant discussion and chat ideas to promote thinking skills
Perfect for adult and children. Great for purposeful chats with grandchildren. It's beautifully presented for young people. Children need to be able to expand their thinking skills and this does the job. It's best used taking one section of ideas at a time so you can really think about it.

Lovely book for curious minds
Lovely book for curious minds!! My son recently asked if Socrates was a real human-after seeing something on TV with him in. Having numerous adult books in the house on philosophy none were simplified for children 8-10yr so decided that this book looked the most appropriate for what he needed to know. It is simple and straightforward. Arrived in great condition and earlier than anticipated.

Libro Estupendo
