The lights are perfect for the cost - cheap, dimmable, and do exactly what I want. The controller seems fine, and the light is bright and even. The reason this is four stars rather than five is because of the power "brick" supplied with the units. For a device generating 5 watts (5 volts, 1 amp), this thing heats up a LOT. My infrared thermometer showed a temp of 127-ish after a few minutes of normal light, which made this the warmest power brick in my collection by a wide margin. So i did a little creative unboxing and discovered that there's what appears to be a resistor on the board that heats up to nearly 150 degrees! In addition to being a bit of a danger, this seems like it's wasting a lot of energy as heat. I think the design on this as-cheap-as-possible USB power supply stepped over the line to a little TOO cheap, and the result isn't great. Fortunately, 5v 1A USB power supplies are so ubiquitous that I had no problem finding a better one lying around (old cell phone chargers are awesome), and would advise anyone buying these LEDs to do the same. Great LEDS, but unless you're heating your house electrically, not great USB power adapters.
