It’s wonderful to use and a thing of beauty
I sometimes use the phrase “You get what you pay for”. Normally after some piece of tat I thought was a bargain breaks. But it can also be used to justify the high price of something.I’ve found many low price high quality objects to hopefully not fall for this luxury myth. Plus as I don’t have unlimited funds to spend on things, I believe the value of an object can and should be measured by more than cost.As a result I tend to put a lot of time into research and reading reviews.Take pencil sharpeners for example. You can spend well over £100 on a manual pencil sharpener but is it the best? Nah. I don’t think so. It’s metal jaws grip and chew the paint off the pencil. That’s lazy engineering. A botch job.I read somewhere that this, the Mitsubishi KH-20 was the best mechanical pencil sharpener in the world. And I think it might be. But if you want it you need patience. Lots of patience.I ordered this sharpener 107 days before it arrived. To be honest, as I ordered it over three months ago I’d forgotten all about it. Then when I saw the Japanese customs slip on the box, it all came back.ALL the pencils in the house are sharp and I will scowl at those using pens because I could happily sharpen pencils all day. But only with this. It’s wonderful to use and a thing of beauty. Bring me your blunt pencils. Or even your semi-blunt ones.

Awesome
This is amazing, it looks good, but best of all it sharpens pencils effortlessly to a wonderful long sharp point. It's a pleasure to use and reduces the chance of breaking the lead.

to the point
pencil sharpener - Mitsubishi KH20There is a growing hipster culture of stationery afficionados, Blackwing pencils, Rotring technical pens, and Moleskine notebooks. Within this, the Japanese are developing a reputation for some fantastic products, unashamedly modern and pushing forwards functionality. Also worth checking out the gorgeous UNI-BALL PROMARK VIEW HIGHLIGHTER PENS [PACK 4] USP-200 Twistable See-Through Tip highlighter with a clear plastic tip. This pencil sharpener looks good, it provides two settings, a very long tapered point that will use up all your pencils in no time, and a stubbier point that is more functional but less fun. The cutting stops when the pencil is fully sharpened. The body is all plastic, so although it is reasonably robust, I would not want to let a whole classroom full of hamfisted children use it unsupervised. It would be possible to clamp it to a desk with a fitting, but no fitting is supplied. If you have cheap pencils, with disintegrating leads or off centre leads, then you might have to resort to sharpening by hand.Based on my experience and that of other reviewers this is a good quality reliable item. You may have problems if you are using it for coloured/non graphite pencils, as the are harder on the sharpening mechanism. Perhaps worth alternating coloured and graphite pencils to keep the cutting blades lubricated. For people in this country, with fond memories of going to the front of the classroom to sharpen a pencil, this will seem a bit flimsy, but the Japanese clearly have no such desire for Victorian over engineering. I have marked down slightly as you are paying quite a premium for the nice design and having it imported from Japan.

A great pencil sharpener
Every pencil in the house is now sharp.I may offer to do next doors as well!A very satisfying experience. Cheaper to wait for delivery from abroad than buy in the UK.

A sharpener so good sharpening pencils becomes addictive!
I have to say, this is a fantastic pencil sharpener. It has, two settings, a short point, which leaves the very tip of the lead flat, and a long point which gives an exceedingly sharp point. The crank and blade assembly is easily removable for cleaning (or declogging if you sharpen a pencil which has a broken lead in it).I would thoroughly recommend this. As a parent of two very creative (read: use/blunt a lot of pencils) i think this was one of my best buys ever, especially at the price I got through amazon. The sharpening action is so good and so quick that for weeks after my purchase I ended up scouring the house for any unsharpened pencils (as did my girls).I read one bad review above (from amazon.com rather then .co.uk) by Ellen Graham which stated "It has not sharpened one pencil for me. I've tried several different kinds. The design is interesting and unique, but the product simply doesn't work, I've tried everything.". I can only assume she either got a defective example, or didn't try reading instructions (and/or hadn't used a similar sharpener before).

Excellent pencil sharpener, well worth the money and wait
As another reviewer said - you start looking for every pencil in the house to sharpen it with the Uni pencil sharpener. I bought it because it was recommended by several YouTube bullet journaling and drawing channels. We have an old "school and office" type sharpener in the same shape at home - but the Uni pencil sharpener is much better. Really fun to use, a button at the back allowing you to adjust for standard and drawing pencils and the results are outstanding. It is shipped from Japan and excuse me for being stereotypical, but: if the Japanese make something, they make it extremely well!

Excellent product & service, but currently long COVID-19 import delays
Seems like an excellent quality product and high quality customer service. In the end, there was a 2month delay on the item arriving, as it was stuck in customs, due to the pandemic - cannot attribute this delay to the seller though; they gave rapid responses, and best estimates of delay, and offered to send another unit, albeit stating likelihood of 2-3month delay given by postal service.

Great design
I have tried so many different sharpeners, electric and small. They all fail after only a bit of use. Many will not sharpen the various sizes and types of pencils. This is so simple and works like a dream! Fits all my very collection of art pencils and can give a nice long sharp point or a more normal size one. Easy to use, easy to clean and NO battery to run out on you. I find that when the sharpeners seems to not sharpen correctly, just open up the bottom and brush away any debris. Best Ever!!!!

Calidad y funcionalidad
Me encanta este sacapuntas manual. Tengo otros dos sacapuntas para artistas pero sin duda el Uni KH-20 es el mejor. Saca una punta muy fina que permite realizar trazos muy precisos. Lo recomiendo mucho.

Excellent sharpener but without clamp
Excellent sharpener. It works as it should perform and is ment for.Tge thing that I don't liked is that it is packed and shipped without clamp by the manufacturer Mitsubishi. They are selling table clamp to fix the sharpener with the table, seperately.

Does it’s job!
Great little table sharpener that rarely breaks a point. Only drawback is the light weight, which means you need to properly hold it down to sharpen. Likely the case with most plastic sharpeners though, but it does a good job, so recommended!Note. For starters looking to save some money. The smaller high quality hand held sharpeners will do the same job, and take up less space on your work area.

Perfect sharpener even for the soft core colored pencils
I was sick and tired of wasting my money on different manual sharpeners including T'GAAL Multisharpener, Alvin brass bullet sharpener, Prismacolor Sharpener and many others that worked fine just for a while. Even though I am not a professional artist and do not use sharpener every day. Eventually, I decided to spend a little more to try a helical blade sharpener. As far as I admire japan stationaries because of its perfect quality and excellent performance I chose Uni KH-20 Hand Crank Wooden Pencil Sharpener by Mitsubishi Corporation. And this is the best sharpener I have ever had. First, it seemed that the sharpener ate some length of the pencil it but it's just an optical illusion because it exposes more wood than other ones I used before. To prove it, I took new Prismacolor pencils they are all equal length, sharpened one and compare them again. Take a look at the picture, there is no difference in total length! There are 2 different points you can make. I call it middle sharp (on photo) and needle-sharp. Moreover, it just stops peeling wood when the chosen point is achieved and the handle continues rotating without resistance. I have heard that other brand's mechanisms often do not stop peeling on the softcore pencils as Prismacolor. I have a stash of 270+ pencils sharpened more than ones and still, this sharpener works as perfect as for the first time. I've noticed that more exposed core and wood, that I was kind of afraid for the first time, in reality, improved my pencil grip and gave me more control. I honestly recommend this sharpener to everyone who would like to enjoy adult coloring without any pencil-sharpening issues.
