Orchard Toys Where in the Wood? Jigsaw Puzzle

I bought this for my 5 year old granddaughter. I enjoyed it more than she did (I'm 78), but she did enjoy watching me put it together! This is a relatively simple puzzle, but it does take patience and concentration, and a strategy. She has too much energy to sit in one place while doing it. I won't buy her another jigsaw puzzle until she's 10 years old!

This puzzle has good points and some drawbacks. The picture is wonderful. It is crammed with many different creatures, far more than the ones highlighted around the edge. This gives lots of clues to help construct the picture and also interesting talking points with a child. However, there is no interlocking with the white border which makes it a bit unstable when "building" it. When mine first arrived it looked pre-used to me. The outer box showed signs of having been opened. The pieces were not sealed in a bag within the box and some of the edges appeared to show signs of having been previously joined and unjoined a couple of times. From a bit of research it seemed normal for the pieces to not be in a bag in Orchard puzzles so, on balance, I decided to keep it.

We have already got the pirate ship jigsaw (made by Orchard Toys) so thought we would try this one.The setting is a woodland scene and it's a jigsaw inside another, the outer edge (listing all the animals in the picture) makes a box which you then build the jigsaw in. My little ones thought that this was quite novel and not something they had seen before.The jigsaw itself is full of life and we had fun afterwards trying to find all the animals listed.For the price I think this is a great jigsaw for little ones.

I retract my previous review.We lost a piece of the puzzle. It is now found.Lovely puzzle ( see picture). Completed with my 3 year old son.Sturdy pieces. Border of the puzzle forms a key for the names of the different dinosaurs in the picture really useful and provides a good teaching opportunity.

I bought this for my son’s 4th birthday as he’s obsessed with both jigsaws and dinosaurs, it proved to be be a great buy! I’ve not seen many jigsaws that provide such enjoyment for a time after the jigsaw has been completed. To hear my son who struggled with a speech delay for the first 3 and a half years tell me his favourite dinosaurs, such as a stegosaurus, t-Rex and diplodocus, makes it an absolute pleasure to do this jigsaw with him.

Great scene and just the right number of pieces for my little one, but the ‘puzzle inside a puzzle’ means that everything keeps moving. Difficult to continue to keep the pieces together sometimes. Still a lockdown win though!

My Granddaughter loved putting this one together with some assistance fromher younger sister and a little help from mum and dad.A puzzle for Dino fond youngsters to construct.For ages 4-5 and upwards.(It's good to gradually increase the difficulty by getting bigger puzzles for youngstersto get to grips with)

Really good, challenging but you can use the poster to make it a lot easier. Really nicely laid out.
