Use decent batteries!!I bought this with a lot of trepidation given the large number of poor reviews about it getting jammed repeatedly but there is such as easy fix! We started off using pound shop batteries and the Sew Cool machine just jammed every 2-5 seconds of use, it was awful and I felt as though I had bought a dud despite being told not to. I put a set of good batteries in and it worked like a charm, whizzing through the material without so much as a hiccup!I recommend Eneloop rechargables. These batteries are great and work in things that don't normally accept rechargeable batteries. This machine will probably eat batteries but if they are rechargeable you're never more than a few hours from some quality play time. Amazon sell these and I have never regretted buying them.I bought this for my daughter's 5th birthday and she quickly proclaimed it as her best present. She lacks the coordination to get it all neat and tidy but the results are practically instant and in 2 twenty minutes sessions we knocked out two very small pillow/stuffed animals, a very small bag and I made a snazzy dress for one of her dolls in less than 10 minutes (this was not an included pattern, I just made it myself).This would be 5 stars if the projects had the scope to be a little bigger but the material only comes in small rectangles limiting the size of most projects to being impractically small to be used. This does not deter my daughter from loving what has been made. If your child (boy or girl!) loves crafts then this is worth the money. I have been reliably informed that you can also buy simple felt from a high street hobby craft retailer for about 50p a sheet (or Amazon!) will suffice for replacements - whilst you won't get patterns these can be thought of relatively easily or you can find guides online. If you do this I would recommend finding the thinnest felt possible, if you bend the needles it is game up.. there is no replacing the needles which makes for the second reason for not being 5 stars. A simple cartridge replacement system for bent needles would make this 5 stars regardless of the material size issues!I can imagine that longevity of play time might not be the best but we intend on reserving it for special daddy/daughter craft time so she cannot run through £££ in materials just idly sewing bits together. This way she will always want to think of a project, we can buy the materials cheaply and make them together quite quickly.

I wasn't sure about how this would work but it's is very clever! The needles are completely protected so there is no way of stabbing your finger which is good. You cannot use just any material, it will only work with the material provided. Rather then stitching it fuses the fibres together. This does create a secure hold for any items you are making. There are plenty of add ons that you can purchase highly recommend! Great way to get children into sewing

Bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter. She was really excited to play with it, but when we switched it on the needles just go down and then it jams. We inserted new batteries but the light keeps blinking, which I read is an indication of batteries needing replaced.It is completely unusable, and such a disappointment.To make matters worse we live abroad and amazon wouldn’t cover the full price of p&p to return. So we are stuck with it and additional sew packs that we can’t use.

Granddaughters Christmas gift she took a while to get used to the action but soon mastered it loved making things only criticism was the cost of the extra fabric kits and hard to find .kept her amused for hrs.

We've had this a year. My daughter still loves this and it works perfectly. Definetly worth buying in our option. We've bought extra fabric sets and my daughter still enjoys making things.

This machine is quite possibly the worst thing ive ever bought on Amazon. It's a cheap, badly made attempt at a childrens sewing machine. The machine jams as soon as it touches the fabric and the instructions are abysmal stating that "the machine may jam" as if to give some sort of justification for the appalling product being sold. Absolute rip off. Do your child a favour and look elsewhere. Very disappointed customer.

Great idea but the needles can't get through the fabrics!! Jams every time. Even tried just a single piece to test and it only just made it through. But one sheet is pointless. Not well thought out, it clearly doesn't have the power for the job. Really disappointed and we bought loads of fabrics for my daughter who's going to have to do things by hand because of course she had her heart set on these.
