TheNatural2020 Ultrabay Enhanced II Module 2nd HDD for Lenovo ThinkPad R400, R500, T420, T420i, T430, T510, T510i, T520, T530, W510, W520, W530, W700 12.7 mm SATA III adapter caddy + USB-SATA-cable

Worked a real treat in my Thinkpad 430, using an SSD and Linux, so have far more space. I now have a high quality SSD for the boot drive (Samsung Pro) and a cheap one for photos etc (backed up of course) - Crucial MX300 525GB in this case.Under Linux Mint, there's probably a few more steps than with Windows. I found it easier to create the partition and format it by placing the SSD in a caddy first and running gparted. As I formatted the drive using Ext4, it had root ownership, so had to change that. Easiest way to fix that was to start the file manager as root (sudo caja) and look at the properties of the drive - and change ownership and group to myself, with permissions to read/write.

Its nice in that unlike other caddys it has a blue indicator light on it to show disk access. It fits well with my Lenovo T420 looking like part of the machine. Only downside was that once I put the HHD in the caddy there was no way it would ever come out of the caddy again - fiendishly tight. The caddy ejects easy enough though for swapping caddy for DVD etc

Great way to add a second hard disk to a Dell e4310 laptop - perfect fit, if a little tight. Really nice decent construction with acceptable-looking exterior (sorta still looks like a DVD drive).Needs the metal 'tab' taken off the real DVD as it's pretty tricky to remove without this. Great product - I highly recommend it - seemed better quality (from reviews) than competing offerings and I can say it's great.

Fitted into my T430 perfectly. There aren't any instructions so I was a little confused about how to fit the HDD into it but a bit of googling found a video of a similar product and it became clear to me. It holds the HDD very firmly once its properly installed and it seems to work well with my SATA connection so the HDD is working properly.

It's OK - needed to change the facia for the one on my DVD player to make it fit but otherwise did the job. I also fitted the release mechanism from the DVD player - an easy change, makes it much more user friendly.

It is a perfect fit and colour match for company supplied T430, and of course works as designed. I did try using the equivalent caddy from my old T400, but that one had a clear gap around it. I think the old one was 9.5mm high to this ones 12.7mm. The 9.5mm one did work, but the laptop would occasionally report that it had unmounted. Stood that for a week, then bought this. Not Lenovo branded, but then that's why it is inexpensive.

I cannot make it into my laptop because this one is not 1.2mm. Its very important because even 3mm different could make big problem. Now I have to buy another one and waste whole weekend to waiting the new one because of that "1.2mm".

Holds the HDD securely and works AOK. Minor niggle for me is that when docked in my Lenovo T420 it is not perfectly flush. The retaining clip is "locked" so it's seated as far in as possible but still maybe 1 - 2mm proud from the side of the laptop. Not a major issue - the T420 machines are fantastic but hardly "lookers". Anyway, good service from the seller, decent product that looks well made and works fine.
