Believe that Knipex Cobra are probably the best grips available and these just add a little extra persuasion to tight fittings. Far better than having to use stilsons on large fittings and ensure that smaller unions offer no resistance.

Best pump pliers on the market.
These are the best pump pliers you can get imo. Well worth the money as they'll last for years with the toughest use. I won't be caught out without my 12in and 16in Knipex Cobras. They grip without crushing and never pinch your fingers. So much better than anything else I've tried over the past 20 years plumbing swimming pools and installing repairing pool pumps and filters.
