Superb Product
This is ready made and gave great results first time. However, I was told by a helpful young lady at The Delicious Cake Company in Farsley that if you coloured it then you needed to increase the baking times and she suggested 20 minutes. I tried to colour it black ( without success, I got grey) and used quite a bit of gel colouring and had to bake it for 30 minutes. It seems that the more colouring used the longer the baking times which would have been useful if put in the instructions. However, this is still a great product and I will be using it again, possibly gold.

Mixed review
I tried this product after several poor results from a different mix. I don't think cake lace is particularly easy to achieve as a novice and you have to be willing to give it a few goes and develop a knack for it I think. This was a bit more time consuming to prepare than the other product I used, but it felt more thorough, and better at achieving a smooth paste. It looked rather more palatable as well. It was easy to spread with a palette knife, but there were few tiny holes, which then turned into bigger holes in the finished product. I have ordered the cake spreading knife to see if that addresses that. I found my particular lace mats (same company) difficult to get in and out of the oven because they are so thin and flexible, and are too big to fit on a baking tray, I followed the instructions, but when I came to peel them off some areas of the lace were great and some just stuck and crumbled. It was still a much better product than the previous make I tried, and I will persevere. I had enough lace for my cupcake table cloths, which was great. However, I don't feel as though I could rely on these to make for a larger cake, unless I had time to make all the lace ahead of time. I will keep trying to perfect it, because it just looks so pretty and intricate when you get it right.

Good quality and easy to use
Great product, I would buy again as it does what it supposed to do… my only criticism is that the liquid had leaked over the bag of powder when I received it, but this didn’t affect the mix( other than the fact I have less of the liquid ratio, for further mixes) Excellent product.

... thought it was expensive but actually it is very good value and it works
When I first bought this I thought it was expensive but actually it is very good value and it works. I bought this alongside Claire's Vintage Heart lace mat. I mixed up one amount and filled around 12 mats - plenty for covering the biggest tiered cake. What I found with the mixture is that by whisking for a long time you incorporate a lot of air bubbles which can show through in the finished lace. I found the lace improved as time went on so next time I will not whisk so long and probably leave the mixture standing for a while with a damp cloth over the bowl. I tried the oven method and the air dry method. The oven is definitely better. To apply the mixture to the lace I used a very flexible small spatula which really got the paste into all the intricate places. This is much better than her recommended knife, which I wouldn't bother with. I also tried colouring some of the mixture with Sugarflair Paste - red - which I used on a red velvet cake with white fondant. This worked really well. All in all a great product.

Easy to use
This is the first time I have used this brand of cake lace but I bought it based on recommendations from other bakers. It was easy to make following the clear instructions. I was ready to make lace in a few minutes. It spread easily into the lace mat with minimal air bubbles. I baked mine in the oven and once out left it to cool for half an hour. I found this easy to remove from the mould.

Picture is misleading
Although it says in the description this product is 200g, the picture shows a 500g tub. Just want to warn others to be aware.
