Yes I find it strong enough to hold three medium weight items on it , a plant medium sized plant on the top and two medium tealight holders in the middle and bottom shelves

what type of glue is needed/ best to use?

I used wood glue but they are really flimsy had to put a bit of cardboard under front floor leg to make it more sturdy but that is on carpet
