Are they glass or plastic?

The containers are glass, and the covers are plastic.

Please could someone tell me whether the plastic tops are BPA free? The box does not specify. Many thanks.

New info on BPA shows that the substitute chemical is not better and could even be worse. Do not heat the lids or any plastics on contact with food.

Are the lids heat resistant? Can they be used in the microwave?

No! Regardless what the mfg says, the lifs will distort and the silicone gaskets will not seal. Keep this in mind for every product question whether it's your automobile manual that says you only need to change your oil every 7,500 or 10,000 miles (they want to sell you another car) or Snaplock lids (they want to sell more of those too)

these glass lock are made in KOREA.its a wonderful container. well locked. Space saver, easy to clean, not expensive but looks like. in short, its a good deal.
