Mine came in a wonderfully designed padded plastic case and included a flat plate of glass for calibration! I have been playing banjo for 45 years. Getting a banjo to sound REALLY GOOD involves a lot of things but tuning the banjo head is one of the most critical items. Conventional wisdom is to tune the head to a G# but all I hear is THOINK when I tap the head. The DrumDial device makes it possible to tune the head to a given tension and then worry about the frequency. I found that for my Earl Scruggs TB-3 banjo, a tension of 90 resulted in, if I am hearing it right, a frequency of G#. This means that I can always restore the head to this value even if I replace the head and the banjo will deliver the same results every time. It will always be tuned to the same frequency. I was also able to insure that the tension was the same everywhere around the drum head and I believe this is important to achieving decent sound. DrumDial is impressive!

A fantastic invention for drummers. I found this to be the best of the many drum tuners on the market. Very easy to use, and the quiet tuning is a huge plus. It was also packaged well, with a calibration sheet of glass, clear instructions (as well as more in-depth ones), and a hard-case. Highly recommended.

.. you need to have know about what well tuned sounds like and this a great tool to dial that tension in quickly and consistently. There are charts about where the tension should be but they are one persons opinion and kind of crap. Find your own sound and this will help you repeat the drudgery of tuning quickly after changing heads or just making sure as play afterwards, they still all tuned up nice. If you change your tuning for different genres this great for on the fly as long as you know the tensions you like ahead of time. This is tool every drummer should have

Awesome device that came in a nice hard shell case with foam interior. Takes the “art” out of tuning drums - ideal for beginners or those trying to put a new head on in a noisy environment. Includes a glass surface to keep everything calibrated and a guide with recommended head tunings. Expensive, but well made and worth it if you have the cash.

Drums sound great, but dont follow the sheet that comes with it, Do your own experiment. I went higher 85/80 on my heads

I've wanted a drum dial forever, but never really wanted to spend the money to get one. Now, I am kicking myself for not getting this DrumDial Digital Tuner sooner. It comes in a great hardcase shell for storage and is an amazingly easy-to-use device. Tuning used to be a chore and now it's just so dang easy. I love the easy-to-read digital display. I would HIGHLY recommend this for all drummers at all skill levels, but especially for novice drummers. And if you are thinking of giving this as a gift, may the lord bless you and keep you, it would be an AMAZING gift for any drummer who doesn't already have one.

its perfect for giging

I use this on the heads of two banjos. Easy to use, it is the perfect tool to keep the heads tight. I got tired of trying to guess at how tight the heads should be. I bought this and it works great. The banjos sound better than ever crisp and loud. With the bridges in their ideal positions. It was worth the investment. I have also loaned it to other players. And they love it too. Highly recommended.
