By my calculations, this package contains the equivalent of 2 cups of heavy cream.On the plus side:* It's shelf-stable, and after opening, you can re-seal the pouch and put it back on the shelf until the next time;* It works well for cooking purposes. I made a nice corn chowder, and enhanced it with some reconstituted heavy cream. It added the right flavor and texture.On the other side:* Yeah, it's kind of expensive -- but if you're not in the habit of keeping fresh cream in your frig, it saves you the trouble of running out to buy some, especially when you only need, say, a quarter cup for your recipe.* You can't use it to make whipped cream. (Nor is it suitable for use as coffee creamer.)Overally, this is a handy item to have on the shelf.

I love this! I used to buy a different heavy cream powder from Hoosier Farms on Amazon, but that was such a weird product. There was no fat percentage listed, it was hard to mix, and the instruction on the jar was literally "mix and let sit overnight", which is a joke. Worst convenience product ever. But it bailed me out of many baking emergencies nonetheless. This product, in contrast, has an actual nutrition facts label and known fat content, and is easy to mix (with hot water) and ready to use immediately. It's very creamy and fresh. The prepared cream has a fat content of 36%, which matches that of fresh heavy cream. It makes very thick cream, and can't be whipped, but for things like baking or enriching tikka masala curries, it's perfect. The bag makes about 1 pint of heavy cream, and costs about 3 times as much as 1 pint of fresh heavy cream, but it's worth it for the convenience. I recommend it!Protip: store it in the fridge to keep it fresh much longer. My previous heavy cream powder went rancid after a year in the pantry. Live and learn.Protip: before you first open the bag, flick the zipper tracks a few times from the outside, like you're flicking a marble, to eject any powder that's packed into the tracks, so that the bag can zip up fully. You'll thank me when you shove it in the pantry/fridge and it doesn't leak powder all over.

This is a great alternative to refrigerated heavy cream that I either have a hard time finishing up after using it for one recipe or I just don't have it on hand when I want to bake something on a whim that requires heavy cream. I also get multiple uses out of the powder in a bag and it comes in handy for more than baking, too. I put it in red pasta sauce, curries, and even when I make a li'l beverage heavy cream foam (well, I tried to). It tastes buttery, the texture is creamy, and it's low sugar which is nice because I prefer to adjust to my own sweetness preference. It blends well into cream-based soup but I can't say it quite the same texture as a cold foam cream, but that's okay. I love that the ingredients are just two simple things: cream and milk powder, nothing else. While the resealable pouch is handy to move around in the kitchen, it's safest stored cool in my refrigerator so I can get longer use out of it.

I occasionally have a recipe that calls for heavy cream, but whenever I buy it don't use enough to kill the whole container, leaving me with a half-empty carton that usually goes bad before I cook something that needs heavy cream again. Decided to try this out as a solution to that - so far it's worked pretty well! I made some crock pot butter chicken with it - it clumped up a bit when I first started mixing it in, but thankfully I had removed the chicken at that point to cut it into smaller pieces, so was able to get at the sauce with an immersion blender to smooth it out. Other than that issue, couldn't really tell that I hadn't used liquid cream - tasted good and had that smooth, milky quality that you'd be looking for. Nice to have something shelf-stable that can more or less approximate the stuff that so often goes bad on me. Comes in a resealable bag with a zip-lock top to keep it safe from moisture between uses. Made in USA and no surprises on the ingredients list. Definitely a welcome alternative. Haven't done the math to see how the price compares, but since I end up throwing out a lot of spoiled cream because I can't use it in time, seems like the powder'd probably pull out ahead anyway. Pleasantly surprised by this stuff.
