Letter Opener with Metal blade

A brilliant tool! I have had many letters lately and have tried to open the envelopes efficiently. I decided I need a ‘paper knife’ and came across this item . It works exactly as described and I can slit envelopes open without seriously damaging them OR their content! I wish I I had seen this tool before! VERY highly recommended!

This was a ridiculous 41p delivered at the time I ordered this (and still the same a couple of months later as I review it) so please bear that in mind - if it's jumped up significantly in price then you might want to discard this. I wasn't expecting much for 41p but this does the job perfectly. It's a letter opener, so not massively heavy duty by design - if you try opening parcel straps and thick tapes etc with it I suspect you will find it won't last that long. For opening letters though it's absolutely fine. Prior to this I hadn't used a letter opener for about 40 years. My parents had what with hindsight seems a rather distasteful one from Spain of a sword in a bull's back, which fascinated me as a youngster. Somehow I survived for 4 decades without a letter opener of my own, but now I have one it's actually quite handy,.

Bought this as a letter opener and it's great! Make sure you don't try and cut too many sheets at once or anything thicker as I don't see it coping, but for paper and opening letters in standard letter envelopes it's ideal! Nice and compact and slides through the paper well. Can't go wrong for the price!

A wee envelope opener. Practical but no big deal about it. Sometimes it will take a few to open the envelope. Gets annoying at times. I like to be honest when I write reviews. I may have had expectations but for the price it's okay. You get what you pay for.

Frequently used but snapped in 2026 - over six years after purchase.

Great little thing that I had to buy again. First one broke after several months, but for pennies it was a bargain. You need to be careful with it to avoid breakage, but it's sharp and works wonders on letters and parcels. When it broke I bought a knife-style opener. That's awful compared to this. Could do with some steel through the pointed end and around the curve to strengthen it up, but otherwise it's faultless for the price.

This is a really useful little thing but it has a design flaw that makes it hazardous to the user It basically consists of a razor sharp blade enclosed in a piece of plastic. In normal use the blade is not easily accessible but it can be used for its intended purpose, i.e. opening letters etc Unfortunately the plastic it is made from is quite brittle and it has a weak point right next to the blade. Eventually this will snap when it is being used, instantly exposing the blade, and it is easy for the blade edge to make contact with the user's hand, with red liquid results. It looks like there are several other reviews pointing out the exact same flaw that I found, so I am just adding my picture to the list. I wiped the blood off before taking the picture. I bought two of these and they both broke the same way (although I had learned my lesson and kept my fingers away from the blade when using the second one). I have used similar things before without this happening, so I think this is a flaw of this design specifically.

It's cheap and lasts a long time.

Very handy to have. Takes practically no space and are price-worthy. (Could be even more optimized for faster and more accurate opening as some other brands.)

Hatte gar nicht mehr mit einer Lieferung gerechnet, so weit nach dem angekündigten Termin. Dann kam er doch noch, zusammen mit einigen anderen Briefen, zu denen ich ihn benutzt habe und war sofort begeistert. So elegant und einfach habe ich noch nie Briefe geöffnet ‼️ Toll👍

Je l'ai acheté après les emballages cadeaux..donc pas encore essayé a grande échelle..mais d'après mes tentatives d'essais cela marche plus bien
