Good but software and unit need updating
Great piece of kit for all sorts of uses, but my band uses it primarily because we don't have a keyboard player and we can get our drummer to trigger keyboard samples instead. This is a real pro-tool and there are not many pro bands that you see these days where you don't see one of these in the drummers armoury. For me the negatives are this, the sampler can be flaky sometimes when it comes to triggering (not sure if mine is a bit faulty or whether they are all a little like this), the software for loading the samples looks very old fashioned and is very limited in terms of what you can do with it (basically nothing outside of loading and moving around the samples). It's in serious need of an overhaul to make it more flexible and to enable you to adjust all of the parameters of the unit from your laptop (currently you load a sample and then have to unplug the unit from your laptop to do anything else or even hear the sample in situ). It's a pain in the arse to be fair. It would also be useful if they gave you software to manipulate/edit samples in the correct format for the unit too. At the moment I have to edit all my in Audacity, export to 16 bit Wavs before I can load them up. More faffing about that could be improved. My other gripe is that the unit itself needs an update so that the pads have LCDs that list the sample names (like the Line6 Helix does) so you don't have to hunt around to find out what is where.Other than that, a great piece of kit that adds a new dimension, certainly to my band's sound.

Doesn't do what it says
Sounds are tinny and cheap, great for techno crap but a million miles away from a decent real drum sound. I tried to return but amazon ignores you and are as uncontactable and anonymous as ever. I was refused return. today is day 30 from receipt of item I should be able to return. I'm now stuck with a piece of junk I'm not going to use. Will never buy Roland kit again. Steer clear.
