OyplaElectrical Food Dehydrator Machine with Thermostat Control

Could not be easier to use, great temperature range & very quiet. On first use I only used 4 trays & dried 2 kg’s of beef biltong in 24 hours. This is the first food dryer I’ve bought & used & really wish I’d invested in this one sooner. Price & Functionality 10/10.

I first tested the temperature control, and it was good. I set it to 50 degrees and left a thermometer inside - the temperature was reached and kept steady. I reduced it 40 degrees and again it did what it was told.The model I received had 5 removable 1 piece trays. I left one untouched for the top most tray.One, for the bottom, I cut out just the inner most ring to remove the rim (presumably there to stop any food falling down the centre hole). This enabled the reel to sit nicely.Each of the other three I cut out an approximately 8 inch ring, these were for the middle three trays.A bit of a slog to do all the cutting, it took me about an hour with some decent side cutters, but now it's finished and it's working well. I'm very happy with it's performance, it gives out just a gentle hum from the fan.With the one untouched tray I suppose I could actually use it as Food Dehydrator as well :-)

Like many other reviewers I grabbed this for drying 3D printing filament, on the grounds that the base unit looked identical to a couple of the 'proper' filament dryers on the market that cost 3 times as much, with the only difference being racks that were better designed for the purpose, but with this having detachable grilles (at least the version that was on sale at the time I bought it), this could more or less be set up to do the same job a lot cheaper, as well as allowing me to put the grilles back in later when I want to dehydrate food, giving me dual use.However, this is one of the cheaper dehydrators available, so you need to go into this knowing that some corners will inevitably have been cut to do it for that price. A big one appears to be the quality of the plastic used for the racks. They are a bit on the fragile side, and crack easily. On top of that if you push your luck with the temperature and cram too much food in there in one go, the grilles can warp.So I've knocked a star off because of the iffy racks. If you do occasional light food dehydration and/or you want to dry 3D printing filament (or both), and are OK with treating the racks with kid gloves, this is not bad value for money. However you are getting what you pay for. if you are looking to do hard core food dehydration on a regular basis, you may want to look at one of the more expensive models, that will have better quality and more durable racks that stand up to more abuse.

After reading the reviews, I was a bit wary, but I have used it to dehydrate vegetables, herbs and even cheese. It works well and has taken max 6 hrs to dehydrate. I used grated cheese and finely cut or shredded veg, look for the yellow sticker items at the supermarket! If you do cheese, I found 1/2 fat cheese easier as it contains less oil, I also lined it with parchment paper, just draw around one of the trays and cut out a hole for the centre part.

Very happy with this dehydrator.Not too loud and has enough space with 5 shelves.Top shelf with the lid has more headroom which is useful for larger food items.Once the food has dehydrated enough you can switch to a lower position to speed up dehydration process.Dehydration time is reasonable based on comparable products.Good product from a quality focused company.

I'd consider this an entry level dehydrator based on the price - definitely was the main selling point for me buying my first one.I've had it for approximately 5 months and use it for dog treats, perhaps 10-15 times over the months. Unfortunately, I've found the trays are made from quite a brittle plastic and have cracked easily. Many of the little spokes have broken off or cracked. I've been careful using the product, not throwing the trays around(!) but they have still broken. I suspect it's the thinness of the material under prolonged heat, as well as being quite footery to clean. I have now had to recycle 3 of the 5 trays and will unfortunately be looking to buy another set of trays or another dehydrator - not ideal when I was using the product to reduce my packaging/plastic consumption.

Was pretty skeptical about this due to cheap price and reviews but i personally think this product was great for what i use it for. It’s very tricky to clean but that’s due to the holes needed to dehydrate so i don’t feel that makes the product itself any less good. Trays haven’t cracked or anything and is still working great.

I love my Oypla, dehydrates my guinea pig biscuits in just 6 hrs, they may have been ready before, but I put off checking after reading other reviews. My ladies love the biscuits so I can report great flavour, as my girlz are somewhat fussy! I have also dehydrated orange and lime slices for my Christmas wreaths, the slices were about 0.5cm thickness and were done overnight (7.5hrs). None of the items created a mess in the machine, I was expecting a puddle, nothing like that at all 😊 perfect for all my requirements, I will be dehydrating some berries this evening for my wreath decorations, lots of fun, excellent value for money.
