Hickory BBQ Smoking Wood Chips

I haven't used these chips yet but intend to use them at the weekend to smoke a brisket in the bbq. I have a smoke box to use with them and they look just right for the purpose. There will be more than enough to smoke the brisket for at least 6 hours which is what I want. I have done this before so I know roughly how many chips I need. Looking forward to it !They were shipped very quickly as well so I would use this company again.

I received the chips very soon after ordering but was very disappointed in the size of the product! The chips came in a small(cute) bucket and i was surprised by how small the quantity was. I have weighed the chips,without bucket,and the total weight came to 352 grams,not a great weight. I think that the price is quite a lot for the amount of chips that you get and i am not convinced that i would buy this product again because of the price.

Haven't used mine yet as it is still a bit early in the year, but I have given them a good sniff and cannot detect any smell of preservatives or chemicals whatsoever. The main thing you want to avoid is using any old wood that may have had pressure preservative treatment which is not going to be good coming into contact with your food. Good woody chips in a handy container and pleased with them.

I have discovered after much internet searching that suppliers of smoking chips do not all sell them in the same quantity types. Some sell by the pint, some by litres and others by weight. This can make comparing prices somewhat of a maths exercise (not my strongest discipline) but if you spend the time you can get good quality smoking chips much cheaper on the internet and from UK suppliers provided you want a greater quantity. Same principle applies for most things really so I do not feel I did not get value for money given I was only wanting to test them out but now I know what I want, I will be buying smoking chips in greater quantities from another supplier. Great if you are just starting to play with smoking until you get to know what you are doing…well a little better at it in any event!

so bit too early to comment with confidence but there's a fair amount in the tub and I think they'll last me a while. Wasn't clear with the packaging but they need soaking before use; maybe that's more obvious to others. I've invested in a smoke box as they seemed to burn up too quickl

My smoker came with Chios which weren't great, these worked so much better, gave my ribs the authentic hickory taste I was expecting. A definite success, no problem recommending these. They came in a big resealable tub with chips of wood and no sawdust.
