So when you put the lid on, there is a half cm gap on one side.** A: There should not be any gap when you put the lid on, so I'm guessing the "plate part" you're talking about should not be bent. Though I'm unsure if by plate part you mean the smaller round plate you put inside or just the base that sits above the candles. Hope I helped answer your question. **Q: Can this be used for silver clay jewellery** A: No - this kiln is designed to be heated using tealights only - the temperature required for silver clay would be much higher - at the very least you would require a blow torch for silver clay. **Q: Can this be used on silver clay items?** A: I am not qualified to answer this as I have never tried to do it and I do not have the material to try it which I have been able to in the past. For a definitive answer try the Efcolor Kiln Co. itself or you could try the PMC Studio (info@thepmcstudio.com). This way you will not end up with an over- or under- fired piece. Only complaint is that the plates and tools are a bit flimsy and the plate you put the work on gets too hot to manage without a cloth - wooden handles might have helped?
