Review: PORN comes with a wicked twist - PORN is a seriously addictive read, I couldn’t put it down and read it in 2 sittings, that in itself speaks volumes. This is a disturbing read that seems to be going in just the direction your head and heart need it to go, only to pull the chair away just as you’re about to sit down and buckle in for what you think is going to be an immensely satisfying finale. PORN comes with a wicked twist, one that I didn’t see coming, a complete masterstroke, one that turned an immensely satisfying and depraved revenge trip into a stomach hits the floor moment with a Oh! F**k to follow. Matt Shaw certainly grabs your attention with some of his book titles, Sick Bastards and Rotting Dead F**ks are two that spring to mind immediately and PORN is up there with them. This starts in a similar fashion to the other stories I’ve read by Matt, disturbing first person narrative, flawed characters in abundance, a story that starts near to the end and then follows two timelines in the present and right back at the start of the tale, bringing them together with some sort of twist along the way. Really big fan of this method of storytelling and Matt Smith does it really well. A young failed actress willingly enters the Porn industry and as work starts to come her way, she gets a job that unwittingly catapults her into the extreme and a horrifyingly savage group from which there is no escape. This story puts your emotions through a roller coaster ride, shock, sadness, joy, repulsion, shocked again and finally stunned with a shovel. That’s what it felt like anyway. Totally absorbed by this hard hitting and disturbing story, Recommended. Review: Good but frustrating. - Great fiction..though not as shocking as i thought and completely frustrating at times when you want the story to go one way and it goes the other. A great quick read.

There's a twist....but it's more like a slight wriggle
Loved Matt Shaw's 'Sick B******s' series (its what got me into his books) so I eagerly snapped this one up. 'Porn' is your straight up revenge tale, told from the point of view of a wronged actress who suffers at the hands of a sadistic director and leading male actor in a bizarre adult movie she appears in. It's hard to review the book without spoiling the ending, but suffice to say there's a switch up in how the book operates around 90% of the way in. Unfortunately it's not the earth-shattering reveal I think the author intended, and the way she fights back against her tormentors loses some impact as its described to us on about three separate occasions - the very end of the book repeats a method she employs around 2/3 of the way in, so you're not really surprised by the climax (no pun intended). Saying that, it does raise some questions over whose side are you on - the woman for suffering so badly, or does she go too far in her plan to wreak havoc on the men that caused her so much psychological torment? The setting of the book alone makes it different to some literary efforts out there, although I'd say this book wasn't as extreme in terms of graphic violence or sexual content as Shaw's other books. Maybe that's just me, though - there's certainly enough here to put your granny off reading it (that's if your granny reads books called 'Porn'). A decent enough tale that doesn't outstay its welcome, yet once the main "method" in which she exacts her revenge is revealed, there was little else here that made me want to read it again. And the slightly 'Sliding Doors' moment towards the end jarred a little with the rest of the book in my opinion.

Gruesome yet amazingly written.
I've been recently getting into my darker reads, and I decided to test this one out after a discussion about dark reads which test the readers boundaries... WOW! I absolutely loved the way the author kept us on our toes, drip-feeding information to us through flashbacks, as well as enthralling us with the vivid descriptions of each...I want to say sadistic act, but the deeper into the story you tread, the more you begin to empathize with Victoria and her overwhelming desire for revenge. This was the type of book where, with each page you turn, and as revelations are uncovered and gut-wrenching descriptions of torture and revenge are made, your jaw is the first to drop, yet your reading device manages to remain firmly in hand. Gruesome yet amazingly written, with twists that will blow your mind, Matt Shaw managed to uphold my attention throughout the duration of the story, and left me feeling both devastated, yet at peace. A 5* must read for those who want to test boundaries, and step into the dark-side.

Terrible constant cringe at the obviousness and boring cliches of plot
Awful book but not in a good way bland boring and did not live up to any of the transgressive hype the author pasted on the cover. A porno actress that tortures a man by giving him blow jobs seemed a bit sexist pandering to vanilla male fantasy total cringe , an incident that wasn't anything but rough sex cringe a shallow hiv plot cringe and a actually it was all a dream lazy ass unoriginal ending . If you want to be shocking at least go all out like serbian film and if you aren't going for absurd in yer face transgressive content please then at least have a good plot . Solid interesting characters or a storyline this book misses on all levels . The only thing this book will have you doing is shaking your head at its predictability and shocked by the discomfort of boredom .

Brilliant, as always...
I've enjoyed this author's excellent books, although I've not read them all. I liked the story in this one and nothing to dislike, just plenty to like! Thank you🙂

A very strong and harsh novel. However it was well written and the horrer wasn't so extreme! This has already happened in real life when innocent peaple have been contaminated by HIV and have wanted revenge! I would do the same! The ending of the novel is sad because it doesn't have a happy ending for her but in the end Victoria has finally her revenge on all the people that have hurt her! I must be wierd but I liked this novel!!

This is the first time I have read something like this... its gory, details make you squirm and ending not expected at all. The whole story just took a complete turn. Just cant say whether i liked it or no.. still under the horrific impact it created... feel sad for the girl though.

I read the warning about sex, gore and extreme horror, but still read it. I’m not a good judge on this kind of novel, and while I didn’t hate the story, I did not like the tome of the book. Torture, rape and cruelty is not my thing. On saying thAt, I loved the ending. Without giving it away, it wS fitting punishment for the creepy characters

I found the premise of the book fascinating and have not been glued to a book since I read Off Season by Jack Ketchum. I know I am destined to purchase Mr. Shaw's other books. The story takes you through the life of a young woman who enters the adult film business. She has set her limitations and abides by them until the people in the business she trusts turns on her. Their objective, no hands barred unprotected sex culminating in completing a snuff movie. This don't go as planned, and she plans to avenge herself with those she knows turned on her. There are twists and turns in the story. The ending is fantastic. I will advise readers that this book is not for the faint of heart or easily disturbed by descriptions of a variety of sexual acts. This story is not sensual, it is what I see as a hard look at the adult film industry. I have read biographies of adult stars in the past. This book takes away the sugar coating and allows the reader to experience the bitter taste life.
