Yes you can dim the screen to three different levels (you can't switch the screen off completely)

Q: How long on playback on battery?

I use the radio for periods of 12 hours or more of continuous playing which is significantly longer than my Pure DAB. One thing you need to know is that once connected to the mains, the battery will only charge while the power switch, located on the back, is turned on. Being a li-ion battery means it holds its charge extremely well. Hope this helps.
