Hoping I never actually have to find out if it works
Totally surprised to find so many reviews.. clearly I am not the only fruitloop in the house..Now that would have been funny a decade ago, but each day and week brings more stories of a world going through so many changes in almost every avenue of life, which makes cracks about fruit loops not even funny. If you are a prepper you need this. If you have a family you need this. If you are concerned about world events you need this If you live in Norfolk you should buy 2. At under £15 its the cheapest insurance.... and like all insurance you hope you never have to call on it.....

Take two and take cover
Timely delivery. Figured it was worth having on hand if things take a nasty turn what with whats happening with the Zaporizhzhya nuclear powerplant. Two tablets (130 mg) is the recommended single dose for most age groups so a bottle will easily provide for several families/friends. Truth be told if anything nuclear were to go down in Ukraine, it would be so far away that we should have plenty of warning. Still, government performance in the face of COVID-19 has been less than stellar and it is worth being prepared. Take only if instructed. The CDC has a nice page on Potassium Iodide if you need more information. Potassium Iodide works by the Wolff-Chaikoff effect blocking further uptake of iodine into the thyoird. With radiative dust, you are are far higher risk of ingesting and inhaling particles that get stuck in your body forever so seeking shelter and taking cover is more important than anything these tablets can do. All they do is prevent radioactive iodine being taken up by your thyoird. They protect no other organ/part of your body! N.B. if you are looking for daily iodine supplementation for dietary reasons this is absolutely the wrong dose (it's far too high!)

Looking okay
I will admit I was embarrased to say why I bought these, but I got them because I grew up east of the Iron Curtain and we were always told to have pills like this in case of a nuclear disaster; and lately the local authorities keep warning us to have supplies to survive a disaster for at leaast 72 hours, so I thought these pills would be a good idea. I sincerely hope I never have to use them for the purpose I got them!

Hopefully I’ll never need them!
Will come in handy if Putin isn’t stopped. Also useful to have since the UKs WMD are not too far away in Faslane.

small tablets . Not a childproof lid.
We got these to add to our prepping supplies . I did some digging to check what these are suitable for as I am not medically qualified .... According to the Dept of health for New York state, Potassium Iodide saturates the thyroid with non radioactive iodine which prevents radio active iodine from being absorbed. This then avoids contaminated foods containing iodine from affecting the thyroid . Apparently it does not protect against other forms of radiation coming from 'outside' of a human body. So we have added this little pot of tablets to our prepping supplies to guard against such events. You cannot take it as an ongoing guard for future proofing, you must use it when you see there being a risk of radiation contamination to foodstuffs or the air and stop using it as soon as there is no risk . Definitely check with your doctor if you think these would be something you would take at other times. Shelf life according to dates on the bottle is september 2025 so roughly 3 years from now although the above mentioned (non affiliated) advisory source does say that given careful storage, potassium iodide tablets should last for many years. My guess is that vacuum sealing may prolong the shelf life but can't see anything that definitely says so. The information on the bottle appears to say that one should take 2 for a dose and that there are 45 doses included however it also states that one should take one tablet for an adult dose. I have included photos of all the bottle information . I did not take a tablet myself as there is no radiation problem to address but they look easily swallowable. The pot comes sealed with a plastic sleeve and further sealed with a foil lid , then cotton wool. It isn't a child proof lid and there are no silica gel sachets inside.

It occurred to me to question the legitimacy of a product most people will never test or use until the unlikely event that their lives depend on it. The photo show the result of the test I performed with my kids. The bowl on the left contains a pulverized tablet, and some corn starch (I used resistant starch). The control bowl on the right only contained starch. I added a water solution of ozone produced by bubbling oozing through a bubble stone into ice water. The color change to the test bowl but not the control process that the tablet contained the iodide ion, which makes the product legitimate. Ozone oxidized iodide to iodine, which reacts with starch to create the purplish tint you observe in the photo. Buy this product with confidence. Obviously this isn'ta quantitative test, but the product isn't fake.

I have an underperforming thyroid. The top thyroid doctors on youtube recommend that older people like me need milligrams of Iodine and not mcg, as the authorities recommend, and all supplements have. One youtube doctor has patients taking 30mg of Iodine. The tablets are soft and easily divided by a pill cutter. So I cut the tablets into quarters which I guess will be about 10mg Iodine, the rest being potassium.I think an intelligent person who takes too much Iodine will recognize the symptoms and back off. And the universal recommendation "consult your doctor"?Yeah right! We are up to our armpits in doctors here.
