OXO Good Grips Nylon Ladle, Black

Top quality nutcrackers these, really strong, made of good thick metal. They performed great over Christmas chomping up several packs of nuts, without a scratch, bend or warp. Have now put them away for next Christmas and expect they will last for many more to come. These nutcrackers are well worth the extra cost over buying a cheap pair which is what we had got the year before, as a replacement for our lost old pair. The cheap pair did not even last out one bag of nuts before cracking. Useless! a total waste of time and money. Wish I had seen these pair sooner as the cheap pair were no comparison at all to these. Take my advice buy these, they are a quality product.

The first thing I noticed when these crackers arrived was its weight indicating that they are made from good old steel and not a lightweight alloy which could break. The hinge looks pretty tough too. The crackers are highly polished and have soft touch finger grips and overall create the impression of quality, solidity and durability. The second thing I noticed was the jaws. Many crackers have 2, sometimes 3, sets of jaws to accommodate various sizes of nut. These crackers have a single graduated jaw that is narrowest at the hinge which can accommodate very small nuts such as pistachios, my favourite, provided they are gripped across their widest part. The jaws are serrated and hold the nut securely. My only regret, not with the crackers, is that most nuts are now sold in pre-shelled packets. In my boyhood a pre-shelled nut was an uncommon sight and nut crackers were to be found in most homes. Sadly they are much less common today and I miss them because I enjoy the procedure of cracking nuts, particularly at Christmas time. I am not keen on shellfish or lobster but I would imagine these crackers would handle this task equally as well.

Superb nut crackers. Well designed, with good grips and feels sturdy and well made, and able to open Brazil nuts, Almonds and Hazelnuts with ease and without damaging my fingers! Less good with larger walnuts, but can be done with a little more care. Recommended.

I'm afraid that I am one of those blokes that find that nutcrackers bend and break in your hands rather than tackle the toughest nuts. This Christrmas I got feed up with it and bought two of the nut crackers that seemed to have the best write ups. This one for £17.50 and the Drosselmeyer for £36.67 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000T5O8GI?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) . These OXO Good Grips were excellent for most nuts and some of the smaller almonds - but struggled with the toughest almonds which became locked in a three way battle: nut -v- Cracker -v- my hand, and my hand lost (began hurting!). Importantly the crackers did NOT bend or break! I then turned to the Drosselmeyer with the same obstinate nut and though this was the biggest almond in the bag, it only popped out the bowl of the cracker a couple times and then gave in and the cracker (and I ) won: but neither cracker broke. The Drosselmeyer was superior - but then costs twice as much.

The flexible silicone front is a genius bit of engineering; it conforms to the curve of the pot, letting you scrape up every last drop of sauce just like a spatula. The 'Peppercorn' finish looks professional, and the signature non-slip grip is comfortable even when serving multiple bowls. It's completely non-scratch for my Ninja baskets and washes perfectly in the dishwasher. A five-star, high-quality essential!

Cracks nuts easily, does what it needs to, and hasn’t fallen to pieces like cheaper equivalents. It’s also not a massive gimmicky soldier nut cracker taking up half your living room. If you want a nut cracker to crack your nuts buy with confidence. If you want a sledgehammer to crack a nut, but a sledgehammer.

I purchased this following us breaking a few other nut crackers with stubborn nuts. This one is simple, strong and totally practical. Highly recommended as a simple nut cracker - it does not break! It is also good for seafood if you are into that. I purchased some more elaborate ones that are less strong and this one is often chosen in preference.

I was using the basket/bottle opener style Nutcracker but found it a little difficult with the smaller nuts so decided to go back to the traditional style and went for the OXO Good Grips ones after previous success stories with their products. And now having demolished a bag of various nuts I can safely say that I couldn't be happier, they are by a country mile the best nutcrackers that I have ever used and so well made (heavy and look expensive). With Christmas coming, get yourself some, it will make your life much easier with those tough nuts!

I love this Ladle. It is of really good quality. The scoop is soft silicon so you can press it against the pot and it shapes to help scoop everything off the side of the pot.
