Excellent size and design
Park Tool OM-1 has been thoughtfully designed for the servicing of bicycle components. These parts are usually not that large, for example a derailleur or a brake caliper. So this work mat has dimensions that are appropriate to the task. It's not intended for bigger parts like a fork, Park do a different product for those jobs, the OM-2.Separated organiser areas keep the parts in order as you dismantle a component. Making it easier to reassemble in the correct order, and not lose anything in the process. The thick heavy rubber feels substantial and should last for years. Presumably it is grease, oil and degreaser resistant. The work area has a grid of raised dimples making it easier to apply some force to a component without it slipping.I service my bikes regularly and never use a LBS. I have to do this on the patio as I've nowhere else suitable. This workmat has therefore been a revelation. It keeps all the tiny parts like washers and bolts safely in order and makes servicing easier and less stressful. For my use it is an ideal size. It fits inside my toolbox, and when working on a component I haven't needed a bigger work area or more organiser pockets. If you had multiple components disassembled at the same time then you might run out of space. My only criticism of the design is that the top left corner seems wasted, it just has a recessed circle detail which I don't understand what it's function is supposed to be. Perhaps a place to put a magnetic bowl? If this area had been cut down to be a circular hollow it could have had more use.I've marked it down to 3 stars regarding value for money as £25 is excessive considering the materials involved and cost to manufacture. But Park have the market to themselves and I couldn't find any other alternatives. I did consider a soldering mat which are cheaper and available in many sizes, but I'm glad I bought the Park Tool in the end. It is fit for purpose and designed by a company that understand the jobs it will be used for. If it lasts me for a few years then I would likely buy it again as it is very good.

Very handy mat for working on bike components. Park Tools logo is a plus for me
I'm a life Park Tools fan, having bought my first items over 15 years ago. They're dependable, suitable for the job and last an age. However, I was put off buying this mat as I had read a review that it was 'tiny'. It's not, it's a great size (about the size of an A4 piece of paper) and is perfect for what it's name suggests - to overhaul a component on your bike.Overall I think it's great, but a big part of that is because it has a large Park Tools logo on it. There might be cheaper and better alternatives.*** Pros ***- Good size for overhauling almost any bike component- Flexible mat means it grips your workbench- Lots of little 'holders' for screws and other bits- Big Park Tools logo looks nice- Thick rubber looks like it will last a long time*** Cons ***- It's a little extravagant and I don't use it all that often- You could fashion something similar for less- Not super easy to clean if you you put lots of greasy components on it (wash them first)- Holders aren't the deepest of, er holders, so if you're prone to dropping things then I'd match this mat with a magnetic parts bowl

More Park Tools stuff!
Not cheap for what it is, but it's very well made and worth the investment if you're keen to have the perfect bike shop pro finishing touch to your maintenance area. And of course it matches all the other Park Tools stuff you've probably already got!

Park Tool Utility Mat
Wasn’t sure what to expect as there’s mixed reviews, especially regarding the size however it’s perfect for what I need it for. I wanted a utility mat to go in my tool box for work so this is spot on. Looking forward to using it at work!
