American here. My son is a peanut butter fan. I prefer the healthier kinds but he won't eat those so I typically have Skippy or Jif in the pantry. They have a very long shelf life. I fear misleading but I don't know if years is all that inaccurate. If you eat it somewhat regularly you will be fine.
