Keeps my jacket waterproof
I have been using this for years to keep my various cheap wax cotton jackets waterproof. In the winter I use my jacket every day to walk the dogs and, of course it gets rained on quite often, sometimes very hard. Come the spring I put it on a hanger, hang it on the washing line and spray the shoulders and arms then spread the spray with a cloth or a small sponge and leave it to dry for some hours. If I get a leak in the winter I spray just the effected area in a similar manner but then hang it up in the toilet to dry but this is rarely needed. It is probably not as good as using a tin of wax as the amount of waterproofer you put on will be less but it is much simpler, does not leave the jacket sticky and is quite adequate for light use.

Effective and easy to apply
I got this instead of using the Fjallraven greenland wax on my g1000 backpack. It is just as effective and is loads easier to apply with the spray bottle. It takes around 10 minutes from start to finish. The only problem is the smell is very strong and unpleasant so I would definitely recommend applying outside and leaving your stuff outside to air afterwards.

Seems to be ok
Had a wax jacket for years now and never done a thing to it so this year as a new years gift to it I’ve decided to re wax it. It’s not an expensive Barbour but a cheaper Edinburgh woollen mills jacket which has been of excellent quality and value at less than half the price. Saw this wax after searching Amazon thought give it a go, just spread the coat out on a flat surface and sprayed away got a shock when it covered the coat in a white frothy foam but once I used an old t shirt to rub it in the white disappeared and gave a very waxy surface to the jacket so I absolutely covered every inch of it and rubbed it in well, the jacket now feels like a really good quality waxy coat again. I did pour a cup of water on it afterwards just have to test things can’t help it and it ran off the jacket well and did not soak in. Overall I’m very pleased with the product so far but only time will tell on its actual durability and I’m not going to go out in a storm to find out I will use the coat all through winter whilst walking daily and if I get caught in a storm then so be it. So if this stuff is as good as it seems then I have a brand new wax jacket for less than £10. Can’t beat it a definite buy

Brand new coat in a fraction of the cost and effort..
I've had my Barbour Northumbria for 8+ years and I've had it re-waxed a couple of times by Barbour in the early years. In the past 3-4 years I've done it myself with their own brand wax that you have to keep molten and apply. It's quite an effort, especially when you've been doing it for an hour or more and you're down to your pants because it's so hot in the kitchen with the oven on and using a hairdryer to get the wax into those harder to service areas like the seams etc..Anyway, ordered this Nikwax stuff which Barbour now advertise and say it's ok to use. I've done two coats in around 40 mins (2 x 20 mins with an hour drying in between). My coat is like new. It's so easy to apply and the coverage is fantastic. As it's a literally spray it gets everywhere and into all those nooks and crannies. One bottle is more than enough to do two coats, I've got plenty left. I've saturated the coat on the second coverage and worked it in with a sponge. I've not had a chance to rain test it yet, but early signs are this is a fantastic product. There is a tiny whiff to it, but nothing that's off-putting. I tend to use white wine vinegar spray on the inside of the coat to freshen it up (as it'll sit unused for a few months) - this Nikwax adds to the service kit and will hopefully keep my coat going for many more years to come.Barbours aren't cheap initially, but mines been going strong for 8 years - if I have to rewax mid-winter, for £7-8 a bottle and 40 or so mins effort.. I'm really not going to complain.

Does the job it's supposed to
Entire jacket done with about half a bottle to spare. As with all of this type of sprayer, wee bit "splashy" rather than just spray. Suggest you try it on something like the hood first to get used to it. It says "spray generously" but, possibly used too much on one side of the hood, better finish with a bit less. Good practice before doing actual jacket. Suggest doing it in sections, avoids too much mess and, helps ensure good overall cover. It says spread with a cloth but, based on previous comment, I just used my hand. Seems effective, (and I now have a waterproof hand!). Haven't tried the jacket in the rain yet but just from looking, seems as well coated as when I first bought it. Only reason I haven't given 5 stars is, as I said, sprayer is a bit splashy and you have to watch and not put too much on.

How to get rid of smell
I found the nikwax wax cotton an excellent product .There isn't hardly anything on YouTube about how to apply it but it's really very simple.Lay the product flat ,spray on then spread evenly, leave a couple of minutes then wipe of any excess, that's it.There's is a chemical smell that I didn't like and it was still hanging around after a week.I decided to give the coat outer a blast with a WARM not HOT hairdryer for about 5 minutes and too my suprise the smell has virtually gone.I also sprayed it with a hose to see how waterproof it is and the water just ran of it.Loads less hassle than rewaxing ,takes about 20 minutes and does the jobI didn't use the techwash to clean before hand just wiped it with cold waterCoat looks like new

My God! The smell!
It is incredibly easy to use and very effective in resealing my wax jacket. But the smell of Vinegar lasted for weeks and never really leaves the jacket.
