This will definitely fit a laptop between 16-17 inches in length, however you must take into account that thicker laptops will struggle.Careful Inventory management is required for thicker or longer laptops because you will not just damage the bag but your laptop as well.This is brilliant for a customer like me who needs compact and minimalistic usage. I commute and read books, so going to college with this is ideal for me. I loathe bulky and exaggerated backpack sizes in addition to an inventory space that can move things around possibly damaging my books as I commute. I don't want to carry a boulder sized backpack on me for the year in college either.Keeping books in place is absolutely tight, they will not move if placed into the pockets. Now the rest of the empty space. Heres the catch, id have preferred to fit two additional belts to prevent items from moving around.If you are 6ft tall this backpack is far too small for you, if you are 5ft tall and desire compact and not have much to carry, this is for you.On the website it states its water proof but the bag tags that arrive with it says its water resistant. There is mixed messaging here, I went ahead and drowned it. Dry on the inside so far, test of time is needed so i’ll edit the review assuming that feature holds up poorly.Overall there isn't any poor stitching since it arrived it is very much a minimalist backpack with a suitcase sized inventory space for those who have little to carry. With the lock mechanism being fine so far.I knock off a star for a multitude of reasons.1. The uncertainty of whether this is waterproof or water resistant. Make up your mind on what feature it is you are advertising.2. While It may seem counterintuitive a little bit more space would have been better hence hard shell backpacks are difficult to spot on Amazon and id have liked an averagely sized inventory.I like this backpack and I can finally say about time I found one that is slim, compact and gets the job done for my commute.

Not 5 stars because… My best friend had all the best intentions buying it for me as a gift. This is absolutely neat, cool and fun to have back for the hipster in your family. The rad young, hip working at a startup etc person who either telecommutes to the office or just roller skates down there, holding and sipping fancy latte on the go . Sadly, I passed that phase long time ago (if I ever even was there) and now I’m totally un-cool and so not rad, boring Gen-Xer so this was not a match for me. So I had to say good bye to it! I hope it found the roller-skating hip owner by now and they both are happy together!

Changed the rating from a 4 stars to 5.Overall quality of the bag is perfect. Bang for the buck. The annoying part is the inside pocket which is not attached to the hard shell.It affects the capacity of the bag. You have to hold it back while closing the zipper.If you are looking to transport two laptop and a tablet, this might not be for you.But great bag.
