It works but does not inspire confidence
I hate to say this but as soon as you open the box you can tell this product is made in England. I've bought a couple of old fashioned products like this recently which are made in England and you get the sense that the factory has not changed in 50 years. Backer is a well known brand for immersion heaters but the product looks badly made and I get the feeling it will not last long. It's just silly things like the screw terminals are not straight, the cable clip is not screwed in at all, you have to do it yourself, even the blob of glue to stop you fiddling with the thermostat is a mess. Now I don't mind a bit of self assembly to cut costs but the whole thing feels cheap and nasty which I guess is not surprising given the low cost. The one I removed was only about 10 years old and had fallen to bits so if I need to replace this one again I will be getting one made of incolloy which is more expensive but also more corrosion resistant..

Could not recommend.
Difficult to adjust temperature, worked ok for a few days then stopped working. Phoned the supplier for assistance, they said they would get one of their electrical chaps to call me back but did not get call. Phoned manufacturer who gave me a couple of things to check which we already had and he advised it needed replacing and to send it back. Bought a different make which has been fine. Not happy as it's a long winded job to replace as have to drain the whole tank.
