What are the dimensions of the base? Could you fit a 25x33cm freeze board on the bottom?

Hi Dorien the base is curved 13.25inch long ,width is at the ends its 7.5inch and in the middle its 8inch. hope this is helpful to you.

Is the lid insulated?

Only partially. I bought a thermos coolboard which I put on top of the food under the lid to help keep stuff cold.

I want a box to keep food items in my weekly shop cool or frozen for several hours, so I can safely divert to pay visits before going home. Is it?

We drove all the way from Yorkshire to Northern Scotland and our frozen food was still frozen. Using frozen cool blocks of course. We are very pleased with it.
