Brilliant, just as you would expect them to be. I like the different diameters and the fact that you can smudge it. Decent price, value for money. Happy.

Good quality but slimmer and shorter than anticipated.
Good quality willow charcoal. Well packaged. Slightly shorter and slimmer sticks than anticipated but okay for smaller scale drawing purposes.

Good value willow charcoal
I enjoy drawing with charcoal as it encourages expressive mark making and is easily altered as the drawing proceeds. There are expensive alternatives, but Coates charcoal is as good as any. It comes in a variety of thicknesses and can be combined with charcoal pencil or compressed charcoal when really dark marks are required.

More of a sample pack but still super nice to work with.
Alright, I've seen a number of frustrated customers review this product. To be fair this is an assortment of varying thickness charcoal. Some of them are pretty thin and may not meet your needs. Also they are half stick length. I purchased these to sample so this turned out ok for me.How do they perform? Quite pleasant actually. Humorously thin sticks aside(which still serve a purpose) they are delightfully soft and responsive, and dare I say buttery for charcoal. No hard or scratchy spots. These are honestly the best willow charcoal I've worked with. Even the thin ones do nicelywhen used for detail work. I'll be certain to buy more although I'll be looking for certain size assortments.

Die Kohle funktioniert super tut ihren Dienst und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist auch okay. Sie ist nicht so hart und man kann mit ihr gut vorzeichnen und schraffieren.

Love it as a starter, but will keep buying it!
I like that this package has many sizes to choose from. I’m new at this so it’s great to explore your options before finding what you prefer best. As far as the quality, I can’t really compare it to others as this is true first time I’ve used charcoal. But still it’s quite strong, and depending on the paper, blends well. I’ve enjoyed it and will be buying again as I’m getting into the different sizes more.
