Movies from a loft room!
I previously owned the Wrap versions of the consumer products, so had to upgrade to the new iWear when the became available. They're significantly different with a much better viewing display. With the padded headphones being built into the iWear the sound is maximised. They're comfortable to use over long periods of time. I have a loft conversion room with slanted walls - so I can't hang a TV, with the iWear (and the previous Wrap products) it's all about privately viewing movies from the comfort of my bed.

Great, but slightly flawed by some basic omissions
The Vuzix iWear comes beautifully packaged in a large, hard cardboard box, with loads of foam inside to protect the headset. Included in the box are European/US and UK plug adaptors, a carry bag for the headset, and a light shield, which can be attached to the headset in order to block out more light, and make it a more immersive experience.Set up is simple, just charge, plug in your device via HDMI or USB, adjust the ear cups and the headband, and away you go. Sound quality is very good, and there are 4 preset equaliser settings available by pressing the equaliser button the ear cup. Other buttons on the ear cup are for are volume, brightness, mic on/off, 3D, and Power on/off.Picture quality is OK, but if you are used to watching 1080p HD TV you are likely to find the 720p screens on this headset ever so slightly disappointing. If you are used to 4K content, that disappointment is likely to be compounded.Occasionally faint lines and artefacts are visible in the picture, and slight flickering in bright scenes is also a minor issue when viewing HD content. This not as noticeable with standard definition DVD.However, overall it is perfectly adequate, although the light shield fails to block ambient light that effectively, and positioning the headset to obtain best picture quality takes a while. Once positioned it is reasonably comfortable to wear for long periods, and fairly immersive. For me though this headset is spoiled a little by a few (silly) design flaws, most of which could easily be addressed. For instance the cord for attaching the headset to HDMI and USB sources is far too short (1.5 Metres). It might be OK for some applications, but if (for example) your Bluray player is over the other side of the room you will need to purchase an HDMI extension lead and female to female HDMI coupler. The buttons for settings are really difficult to find while wearing the headset, and here an external remote, in-line wired remote, or even voice control of functions would be so much easier. The charging indicator glows red while the headset is charging, and does not change colour or extinguish to indicate a full charge. So aside from checking the on screen battery level indicator by putting on the headset, obtaining a full charge is really just guess work.Contrary to what I was told by Vuzix technical support, there is no on screen indication when adjusting volume, brightness or equaliser settings, and all that is displayed when you press these buttons is the battery level indicator. Bizarre, and pretty dumb I think. It would be useful to see a visual representation relating to the button being pushed.3D rendition is OK, but field of depth is not as good as watching a movie on your TV with 3D glasses. So given the shortcomings why a 4 star review. Well it's early days for this type of technology, and it will improve. I have only tested it playing DVD, Bluray, 3D Bluray, and with games on our Wii U. It performs all these tasks acceptably well despite the flaws I have mentioned above. My wife thinks it is almost a "cinematic" experience, and I would agree more with that appraisal if the picture quality was slightly better.I understand a 1080p version is on the cards, as well as a wireless function. If they also address some of the issues that I, and other owners have reported with this current version of iWear, then these forthcoming products should be well worth a look. This is not a bad product by any means, and mine will be getting a lot of use. It is ideal for watching a movie when the rest of the family want to watch something else, and a solution for those who might not have the space for a big screen TV in their home, but want a big screen experience. As long as you purchase knowing not to expect an IMAX or UHD experience you can't go wrong. Sound quality is great though, although not exactly True HD or Atmos. This is very interesting technology though, and is a very reasonable price for what you are getting. The Vuzix comes with a warranty, but I get the impression from speaking to the company that they are flexible over faults occurring outside the warranty period, and will evaluate each case by case. On the whole they seem to be very helpful and customer orientated, even if they didn't give me entirely accurate pre-purchase information regarding the on screen display of the function buttons.Update:- One annoying thing I have noticed is small speaks of dirt, and a small round mark on the viewing screens. I have tried cleaning them with an optical glasses cloth, but they are clearly inside the screens. It is a little distracting because your eyes are drawn to these imperfections, just as your eyes are drawn to scratches and dents on your car when you know they are there. I really would have expected more care in assembling this product, and a cleaner environment when doing it. I note I am not the only owner to report this issue. As a consequence I feel the review rating should be reduced to three stars. I look forward to a response from Vuzix UK on this review page in due course.

What a surprise
I seen these in the shop Mankind and after reading the reviews thought i am not paying over £300 for these. Seen them on Amazon and thought good price. The item is solid in build not like the flimsy box ones you get if you buy a mobile phone. The 3D is really good and the screen is fantastic i am playing this on my PS4 and am not getting any lag of frame rate, for me am getting 1080p the picture is really that good. You have a attachment to blackout the light but this is were i have the problem. The bits that sit on your cheeks ride up and some times block the lower corner of the screens. So i have left this attachment off and it works fine. The item does not feel bulky or hurts you head, neck or shoulders after awhile you forget this thing is sitting on your head and you feel like your watching or playing your PS4 on a massive screen. Why only 4 if that good you ask cause of the Blackout attachment sometimes am watching or playing stuff and the wife is watching her soaps and she has the main lights on.
