Look your best with the best!
Perfect fleece hat. Not to long, not too short. Price is right for carhartt. It is warm hat, that is stretchy enough to make it comfortable.

Great for Big Heads, Lightweight but Warm
Lightweight but quite warm. It helped keep me reasonably comfortable on an overcast day with wind chills in the teens. Easily compressible to shove in a coat pocket when not needed. If you normally struggle to find headwear that fits your large melon, this should fit comfortably. (I normally need an XL or XXL hat or helmet.)

Really warm
This is my second. I still have the first one, but now I have a spare. I wore the first one the week of snowmageddon a few years back. Outside all day for a week in temperatures from 3 to 20. I actually started sweating. I thought I was too warmly dressed, which I was, but the hat was the bright spot. If I started sweating, I would take it off for 10 minutes of so then put it back on. It's just a fleece hat... my fleece jacket doesn't work anywhere near this well. And, it's not like I don't wear a hat normally. This little piece of fleece is worth it's weight in gold.

Warm
Objectively, this hat is warm, and it's a hat for keeping your head warm, so maybe I should rate it 5 starts. Here's why I gave it 4:I save my head, not "Bic-ed" but I do use the "Balder" by Wahl. Because of my time in the Army I grew attached to my black fleece watchcap. I was re-insulating the attic at the end of last winter and the aforementioned hat is now a permanent part of my attic insulation. I needed a replacement. I like Carhartt as much as the next guy and it was the right price, so I figured I'd give it a whirl. I have a large head. Not huge, literally size large by Army standards. I figured a one-size-fits-all adult male fleece should be perfect, and I was wrong. The diameter is right, but the hat is very tall. I have to tuck the excess into the band. Not a deal breaker, but oddly tall for hats that normally fits snug. Also, the Carhartt logo is pretty prominent on the field of black, but it would be (is) easy to remove. For some positives, the stitching is better than I'm used to in fleece watchcaps. The fleece is also softer.Overall, a solid product.

• Generous sizing with two bright color options
Form & Fit. These caps have a geodesic, orange peel construction that facilitates an easy-on, easy-off fit. The material has limited wicking capability, and sweat will build-up underneath during vigorous activities. Sizing is generous and the caps easily pull down over the ears on those days when winds are gusty and the temps drop into the 20’s-30’s ºF). Since the size is generous, it will fit anyone in need of a larger size. For many, there will be some looseness to the cap but not enough to be stripped off by a strong wind. Still, an inner elastic added to the band would be a welcome addition to future iterations of this cap.Color choice & visibility. These caps are offered in a variety of colors, and making a choice would be based on when one is worn. If you walk, walk dogs, run, bike, or work outdoors, then visibility is an important consideration for preventing those accidental, close encounters with traffic. During neighborhood walks I always wear a brightly colored cap to be visible. My color choices are either Lime or Orange depending on outdoor lighting conditions (see model photos). I usually wear the orange during bright, daylight hours and the lime during lowlight and overcast sky conditions. This way I feel confident that I can be seen by others despite the Purkinje effect. The Purkinje effect? It is the shift in color visibility by the human eye relative to other colors due to changes in background lighting conditions. In general, it means that under bright light conditions, the more visible colors are bright reds and oranges, while under dimmer light, bright yellows, greens, and some blues would have higher visibility.
