Review: The Natural Soap Making Book for Beginners - Really nice book. Easy to use and read. Every recipe is on double-page - really useful - unfortunately, no every soap making book has that. So then you do not have to browse...I really love the natural colourant list. Almost everything is in ounces. There is measurement conversions but not measurement as 8.3oz or 4.3oz etc. - another reason to buy new scale with g, oz etc. :)...anyway, proper scale is needed for exact measuments which is essential for soap making. Review: Good beginners book. - I waited until I had made a few of the recipes in this book before I wrote my review. Overall I like it but I do have a few gripes. The recipes are in American weights so a little confusing. The book uses a lot of animal fats for the soaps. I have had to learn to use a soap calc to swap the animal fats to something vegan. The shampoo bar is way too high with super fat and leaves hair with a heavy grease that no amount of rinsing will get rid of. I have used it as soap and it’s lovely on the skin. I love the goat milk, honey and sweet orange soap. It’s a hard, bubbly bar with gentle cleansing. It has totally been fab on eczema! It had given me a chance to try a few different oils to work out which ones I like. Now I am making my own recipes using a soap calc and have a pretty good idea what ingredients I like to have in my soap bar. The process to making my own has been fairly quick but the book certainly is a great guide for troubleshooting and experimenting.

Great book-
I really enjoy this book as it's a comprehensive guide aimed truly at beginners who would like to learn more about soap making. Rather than just relying on ready-made recipes the book gives you the tools to create and customize your own ones. Instructions are easy to understand even without a lot of pictures. My only regret is that it contains animal fat in a good number of recipes and doesn't give you alternatives. I understand this is a difficult decision as a lot of the times it's either fat or palm oil in recipes in order to achieve certain qualities in a soap, and neither of them are very kind to nature.

Lots or recipes
This book is great! As somebody that now needs to make my own soaps due to having to give up on commercial shower gels and soaps because they irritate my skin so much I needed a little direction. This book is friendly and set out for a beginner like me. I was amazed at how simple it is to make your own products. The soaps come out beautifully and pretty and quickly I managed to just get creative and go with my own blends. My skin has never been happier :)

Great beginner soapmaking book
The Natural Soap Making Book for Beginners. Do-It-Yourself Soaps using all-natural Herbs, spices and essential oils. Chapter one through chapter four is your soap making primer. Chapters five and six techniques and tutorials. Chapter seven through eleven recipes. This is a well written soap making book full of photos and recipes. Being a beginner soap maker I didn’t get lost at all with this book. There is also fragrance wheel chart included. You will find included in the book recipes for Beer Soap, acne soap, candy cane, pumpkin spice soap and even pet soap to name a few. With clear instructions included with each soap recipe. It was for me like baking a cake with all the directions. I chose the nut free soap recipe included in the book for my first soap. This recipe uses Babassu oil instead of coconut oil for those of us who are sensitive to coconut oil. I had no difficulties. And if I did have any there is a section in the back for trouble shooting with pictures. I’m glad I purchased this book and recommend it for you!

Best all in one natural soap making book
This is a really great book that makes the basics (and even beyond basics) really easy to learn. Highly recommend and I love the emphasis on natural, not synthetically chemical ingredients.

Informative but Lack of Graphic Pictures
I like it the way it prepared us to gain clear information on preparations, but sadly the last few chapters do not have ample pictures of the end products after recipes given.
