the best baby related product we have purchased! Can't recommend it highly enough
when I first saw an ad for this product in a baby magazine I wanted to know more and buy one... and I am so glad that I did. It isn't necessarily the cheapest product you will buy but it is worth every last penny in convenience and ease of use - no more racing to get a bottle made and then cooled while our little one screams (because however organised you are during the day there are always times when you forget to pre boil a kettle, and who wants to spend ages making a bottle in the middle of the night?!) I admit before purchasing I wavered, thinking I could just save the money and stick to the kettle/cooling routine but I am so glad I decided to hit the order button! The perfect prep machine is so quick and easy to use, we pre measure our formula powder into the tommee tippee formula pots and keep them with the sterilised bottles by the machine so that as soon as our little man shows signs of hunger we can pop a bottle under the machine, press the button, add the powder to the hot shot and shake, then hit the button again for the rest of the water to come through and it is ready to go - it takes a minute, if that! We haven't had any problem with the water oz's being US not UK (as other reviewers have highlighted), the way I see it for the minimal difference in water volume vs the powder we measure out is not a major problem at all - it isn't as though there is a huge increase in dilution and I regularly give my little man a little extra boiled water after a feed anyway so what is the difference?! Up to you though if you prefer to adjust the water/powder ratio to make it the UK oz equivalent... Re warning lights, apart from the water level low light (which hardly ever comes on, as keeping the water topped up is also easy!) we have also had the water temperature light come on once, after our kitchen got particularly warm one (rare!) sunny day. It was easy to simply empty out the water chamber and refill it again to be filtered - after all warm water can become stagnant and I certainly don't want to use potentially dangerous stagnant water in my baby's feed! I would suggest not keeping the machine near a window for this reason though - a cool corner of the kitchen would be better! Whether you use other tommee tippee products or not I honestly believe this is a must buy for all new parents, the best value for money of everything we've bought so far! I hope you agree when you get yours!

A lifesaver at 3 in the morning!
We breastfeed our baby, she is 3 weeks old, but like most, we find she needs to be supplemented with formula because she cluster feeds and comfort feeds. I brought this item per a work colleague's recommendation, but knowing we were planning to breastfeed I didn't expect to be using it. Finally, two days ago, we started to use it. Set up is slow. First you have to fill the reservoir, sans filter, with cold water and do a cleaning cycle, which can take up to ten minutes. It didn't seem to take anywhere near that time but I was otherwise engaged with cleaning and sanitising bottles. Then you have to submerge the filter in water until it stops releasing bubbles, and then fit the filter. What took the longest time was once the filter was in place, filling the machine up with water, because it drips through the filter slowly. You fill the reservoir with ordinary, cold, tap water. Once this was done and our "filter timer" was reset, it was ready for use, and I admit I was a little excited to do so, I love gadgets and this was a new gadget. It is really easy to use. You place a bottle under the spout and having pre-selected what amount of formula you want to make up on the dial (you can choose 4fl.oz to 11fl.oz) you press the big power button and a red light starts flashing whilst a "hot shot" of hot water is dispensed. Once this is done, the flashing stops, the machine beeps and you have two minutes to complete the next step, that being adding and dissolving the formula powder. If you do not complete the next step within two minutes, the machine beeps to tell you to discard the formula solution you just made, I guess this is to ensure that the formula is completely sanitized by the hot water and the child is not exposed to any harmful bacteria. You add your scoops, pop on a lid (one is included, along with a 150ml bottle), and shake the solution until the powder is dissolved. You then remove the lid and place the bottle under the spout again to be topped up with cold water. Essentially the same as the "hot shot" except this time the water is cold and the light is green. Voila! A perfect temperature bottle all ready in less than 2 minutes. Tommee Tippee recommend you always test the temperature of the liquid on a sensitive part of skin to make sure it is the perfect temperature, but I've yet to have one too hot or too cold. The machine does seem to make a little over the specified amount. It seems that although the selection dial is in fluid ounces, the machine actually works in millilitres, as 1fl.oz = 30ml, and on the bottles, the fl.oz markers are just below the ml markers. So don't worry. It does seem that the machine makes 4.5fl.oz when you ask for 4fl.oz, but this is because of the markings on the bottle, if you look closely you will see that, in this case, the fluid actually sits perfectly at the 120ml marker, so you are given 4fl.oz when you ask for 4fl.oz. The drip tray is adjustable to four different positions, to fit any and all bottles, not just Tommee Tippee. They do recommend that you have the neck of the bottle as close to the spout as possible, so keep that in mind. The tray is held by hooks and is extremely easy to remove and reattach at an alternative height as and when needed. The machine, itself, is fairly light and compact, so it won't take up much room. It has a smaller footprint than our Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Electric Steriliser Kit , and is probably about as heavy, if not a few grams more. There are little rubber feet on the bottom to stop the machine slipping. I would, by no means, recommend anyone pay the £119.99 RRP for this product, I got it for £60 back in August 2015, and that is the most I'd happily pay for it. It is a brilliant piece of kit, and what it does, it does brilliantly, even if it is just boil and measure water, but I don't think that is worth £120. The machine also tells you when it needs descaling, but I have yet to get to that point as it's only two days since it was first taken out of the box. Always make sure to top up the machine with cold water, as anything over 25°C causes a "reservoir temperature" light to illuminate and the machine will not operate until the reservoir has cooled. I assume this is because the machine has no method of cooling water down, and it is the adding of cooler water that makes sure your bottle comes out at the perfect temperature. During the cleaning cycle you are asked to put a litre of boiling water in the machine and ensure the light illuminates.

A handy, time-saving machine for parents.
This is a fantastic idea. I have been through the stage of having to boil the kettle, wait for it to cool, or make the milk hot and fill a jug of water several times until it is cool enough, sometimes with a hysterically crying baby. The machine really does do the job. The instructions are easy to follow, no tricky steps to remember. Less fuss, just fresh milk at the perfect temperature. When you first get the Perfect Prep, you have to go through a first time set up, but once this is done, you need not do it again unless you don't use the machine for more than 2 days. Tip - you really do need a big container to catch all the water that is filtered through the machine the first time, otherwise you will end up with wet worktops/floors, trust someone who knows! The design is excellent - nice, clear indicators for water level, filter status, cleaning, and maintenance. The red LED's will illuminate to alert you if there is an issue, and these are easy to see. The spacing for small and large bottles is sufficient, and you can move the drip tray to suit the required bottle. When making the milk, you must first put in hot water. This is generally enough to dissolve all the milk powder. Whilst you're mixing the water and powder, you have a small time window to add the rest of the water. I find that there is enough time to do this. If you take too long mixing, the machine will beep, which means it's no longer possible to add the rest of the water as it isn't effective by then. Once the rest of the water is added, it easily mixes with the rest of the milk. The temperature is just right. My baby has never had a problem drinking it straight away. The machine can be quite loud when in use, but it isn't enough to be a nuisance. It seems like a standard feature of water dispensing machines, as my coffee machine makes roughly the same noise. My baby likes to watch the machine whilst we wait for the bottle to fill, he seems pleased with it as he knows his milk is coming. After a while you will need to replace the filter. So far though, I have not personally had to replace mine. The filter warning light came on, so I bought a replacement filter. The filter light will start flashing (rather than remain solid) if it needs to be immediately replaced. My replacement filter has been sat in a cupboard for weeks as the light is not yet flashing. This means there is plenty of time to get a replacement filter if needed. Aside from making milk, I have found this machine generally useful for dispensing water when you need to use 'boiled, cooled' water in certain situations. I have been able to mix my baby's Gaviscon and provide drinking water this way. I am very happy with this product and will be passing it along when I have finished with it.

Awesome, this is a must have!
Amazing - every parent needs one! One of the best baby products we have bought, saves so much time and hassle. Like many of you I presume, we also had the dilemma of how do you prep your formula? 1 - Individually each time, boiling the kettle, adding the formula, cooling the milk and trying to get to the perfect body temperature before feeding your baby? This is the recommended process and takes ages! Not what you want to do 6+ times a day, especially during the night. 2 - This is not recommended, but others prepare a handful of bottles in one go. Boil the kettle, put in formula and let cool before putting in fridge for a max 24 hours. Each time the baby feeds you boil the kettle again to warm the milk up to the desired temperature. This is not recommended but people do it, but again this takes time boiling kettles and you have to get the temperature right. Not ideal when baby is screaming and during the night! 3 - Others boil the kettle and let the water cool. Then add the formula to cold boiled water and feed. This is also not recommended and probably the worst thing you can do as the formula needs boiling water to kill off any bacterial. Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep does everything you need in 2 minutes. Put bottle under dispenser, press button which provides a shot of boiling water instantly. You have to add the formula, shake, then replace under the dispenser. It fills the bottle to the volume selected (ounces) then beeps twice when done!!! Put on the teat, shake and feed! No hassle, extremely quick, safe for baby and at the right temperature......whats not to like about this??? I can't understand the poor reviews.......it's the most useful, hassle free product you can buy. My wife and I are professionals and like doing things efficiently. Don't hesitate, this is a must!

Amazing - my Best Buy!
Absolutely love this machine! So quick and easy to use particularly when you have a crying baby in the middle of the night. The main negative is that it is a little noisy and bright. The hot shot sounds like an expresso and the beeps are loud. The flashing light when the cold water going is very bright in a dark room. These could be a real issue if you have it in the baby's room and you are making the bottle up in anticipation of them waking as the lights and noise will definitely wake them. Yes it only takes 2 minutes to make but that's 2 minutes of crying you can do without! I've got mine in the room next door so it isn't a problem as when he starts to stir I run next door and it's ready and waiting for him at body temperature when he wakes. Another issue is that it only starts at 4oz, so isn't suitable from birth unless you want a lot of waste. Though you could split the bottle in two and put the other two oz in the fridge for the next feed and use a bottle warmer. This kind of defeats the purpose. I was trying to breastfeed so was using the ready made milk to start for convenience and had the tommee tippee bottle warmer. It was only at 8 weeks when I decided he was going to be a formula baby that I switched to powder and bought the machine. It would really help if it started at 2 or 3 oz. I bought it in the sale for £60 which made it great value for money. The filters are a little pricey but are meant to last 3 months. All in all though I think it's a brilliant product and would recommend it to anyone using powder formula.

Absolutely fantastic, saves so much time with just one perplexingly odd "feature"
My wife was breast feeding our boy since the beginning but he is a large and extremely hungry little man! We started supplementing with bottles going through the whole boiling a kettle, letting it cool down just enough, mixing and cooling process which usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes in total. This is not good when you have a baby that goes from perfectly happy to starving in 0 seconds on your hands. We thought we would give this a go as we are fully over to bottles now and it has been absolutely fantastic. Does exactly what it says perfectly preparing bottles in around two and a bit minutes. Quick, easy with no fuss. As you can control the size too you can prepare what you think is enough and if it isnt just make another one. No more waiting. My wife and I cannot recommend this enough... Now for the odd "feature". The bottle is made in 3 phases: Phase 1 - Select your bottle oz size and press the button. This fills the bottle with a small amount of very hot water, this last about 20 seconds based on the size of the bottle you are making. Phase 2 - Put in the amount of baby milk powder you need for the full volume of the bottle and shake it up to ensure you kill off anything nasty that may be lurking in the powder, this takes about a minute. Phase 3 - Put it back under the dispenser and press the button again , this lasts about a minute or so based on the size of bottle you are making. When you press the button to start the the water dispensing phases you get a very loud beep and once the phase completes you get a loud double beep. Considering that you are not going to be far from the machine it is far too loud and has woken up our sleepy little boy on many an occasion. This really confuses me why they put it in or at least put some way of controlling the volume even if it was to a predefined level. All in all though the one shortfall far outweighs the amount of time this will save you and the happiness of you and your well fed baby!

Brilliant machine for perfect baby milk every time.
The days of messing about making the babies milk is well and truly over now, what a brilliant product this is. No one likes their baby screaming for it's milk while your fumbling about trying to cool milk that's too hot or warming one thats too cold, so this product at a touch of a button (Well two touches actually) is an absolute miracle of an invention! We can now get a perfect bottle of body temperature babies milk to baby in the fastest time possible, ensuring less stress on a tired family and less stress for baby. The machine has a water filter internally which has to be changed every 3 months, it's easy to change and even tells you that it needs changing by the way of a warning light on the machine itself. You then fill the tank with cold water and it holds a decent amount of water with a visible water level on the front so you know when to add more water. You then place your bottle under the spout, select the amount of milk required and press the button once. The machine then dispenses a small amount of hot/boiling water into the bottle, you then remove the bottle and have 2 minutes to add the milk formula then shake it to mix it into the small amount of water, you replace the bottle under the spout and press the button one more time and it dispenses the last of the water to take it up to your required amount, this ranges from 4oz all the way up to 11oz's. So enough for most babies until they are in the weening stage. You then remove the bottle, screw on the cap and shake once more and there you have it, perfectly prepped milk for baby in a fraction of the time it takes to do it manually. Our household would recommend this to any family as it takes away so much stress and worry that you've left the milk too hot or too cold etc, it's a godsend of a product and one that we won't ever be without as long as we have bottle feeding babies in the house.

Life saver
This machine is a life saver. Prepares the milk in a very short time, never failed us. The only annoying thing is the loud beep it makes after each press of the button and when the drink is ready, but fortunately it was never an issue for us or for the baby.

Some misses
I'll update the review. This is a first experience. Solid looking machine, clear manual, programs to clean and maintain. Things that rub me the wrong way. Water filter? Why? I don't need a filter. Only adds maintenance cost and the risk of bacteria in the water. You release something for Europe and show "Oz" as the metric? Why? Doesn't make sense at all. I'm on the fence now whether I should return it.
