I love the retro vibe!
I wanted a cd/cassette radio, just something nice and compact to replace my old one. This came today and it looks fantastic - really retro, better than the pictures. It plays cd's and cassettes perfectly well, better than I was expecting for the price. Excellent value for money!

almost good
I bought the red one, and really like the colour. Sound quality is good enough for me. I don't need the radio (bought it only for the CD and cassette player), and most of the features are easy to use, although like someone else mentioned, the CD player doesn't have a shut down/close button, but one has to grope on the left back side for changing from CD player to cassette or radio, to close it down. Those buttons in the back - including the volume dial - are the most inconvenient feature. My former boom box was similar, except that it had those features in the front. Too bad, but that's why I give overall only 4 stars.

Easy to use
I find the sound is good as far as I am concerned. I do have a very varied taste in music and it is lovely to have found this one which does everything I wanted of it. I have very old cassette tapes which play really well considering their age, and I am enjoying hearing personal memories clearly once more. I was very upset when my previous player gave up the ghost after many years and thought it unlikely I would be able to find anything like it.. but this is just perfect for my needs and actually the retro look in red is attracting my younger relatives eyes too. I consider this one of my better buys.

A retro box that is not very boomy.
Bought as a kitchen radio to replace another make that had a fault on the CD player.Good pointsHas a tape player, which is rare these daysHas an aux port so you can plug an mp3 player into it - set the player to cd and then plug the mp3 player in at the back. Thus is a 'dumb' socket, you cannot control the MP3 with the Boombox. You can set the volume on the Boombox,Sounds rather good for the price, nice treble and the base is not too hollow for a plastic unit. (See below for volume issue)Bad pointsSuspect build quality. We had to send the first one back as we could not tune the radio at all. This one is OK, but the tuner is stiff as you move up the frequencies and the pointer will actually move backwards slightly near the end of its travel. Tuning down the scale is fine. The radio does stay tuned but it can be a bit of a fiddle to get tuned and you probably would not get a station right at the end of the dial as the pointer moves back. Not very powerful. It sounds Ok and there is no distortion at full 'volume' however full volume is not very full. It's fine for a kitchen but be aware if you like or need more power. There is no headphone socket.Other stuff. There is no Dolby on the tape (is there ever now?)The plastic is a bit brittle feeling. You can't deform it but it just feels as cheep as it is.The tape has a soft (ie slow) ejectAll the controls are on the top with the exception of the radio tuner (right side near the back) and the aux port (at the back).

very disappointing
This has to be one of the worst purchases I ever made. Even opening it was a disappointment because it felt so lightweight and the workmanship was so shoddy. When I switched it on the volume control made such a loud crackling noise that my very hard-of-hearing husband could hear it without his hearing aids and unfortunately it made the noise at the slightest touch. As the control was also very difficult to adjust it wasn't long before I decided I couldn't stand the noise and returned it. Although I was unhappy with the quality it was the attitude of the company that really disappointed me. For some reason I had to return it to the company myself, unlike other reviewers, and it certainly didn't compare well with Amazon's return policy! Despite the fact that I sent the boombox recorded delivery it was several days before they admitted receiving it and refunded my money. However, they have still refused to refund the £12.65 postage on the grounds that all rotary controls are like that and it was not a fault - not my experience over many years of owning them! In fact their staff were generally rude and unhelpful. Avoid like the plague!
