> PROBABLY A GREAT CASE FOR LARGE PINS AND RIBBONS---NOT A LAPEL PIN CASE
> DESCRIPTION--> Well constructed, attractive, and with bright brass hinges and clasps. Even when hung to a wall, the case is openable.--> The background is a non-removable thin rigid "board" covered with a semi-loose black fabric, which you can attach pin-and-clasp (safety-pin-like) pins such as broaches, military ribbons, or trophy ribbons but to which you can NOT attach lapel pins, tie-tacks, military metal ribbon bars, etc. (i.e., thumbtack-like pins) as shown in the photo.--> There is about 1" of space between the glass and the background. This is too much thickness for best viewing of small relatively flat pins, but probably great for big trophy ribbons and military ribbons. BUT I suspect that the fabric would sag over time from the weight of heavy military ribbons, etc.--> No other attachment system than the "semi-loose fabric". I suppose a handy person could drill holes through the backing, or install shelves etc., but there are more appropriately-designed "shadow boxes" available for such purposes.> NOT A LAPEL PIN CASE -- Doesn't work with men's lapel pins, tie tacks, military "been there" bars, etc., which attach by a (thumbtack-like) pin through a hole held by a retainer piece, because the background is attached to the back of the box.> MAYBE SUITABLE FOR SMALL PIN-AND-CLASP PINS -- You could never get say a couple of dozen small pins attached in neat rows and columns -- you could try, but it would never be right -- a random arrangement would work better. BUT, the pins would probably "flop down" -- i.e, not hang parallel to the backing or glass front. You could use some foamy tape to help hold them more parallel and straighter.> ALTERNATE MOUNTING METHOD -- I used double sized foamy tape Scotch Indoor Mounting Tape, Heavy Duty 1'' x 50'' 1 ea to attach patches of Velcro ("Brand One") VELCRO Brand One Wrap Thin Ties, Black, 8 x 1/2-Inch, 100 Count (91140) material to the pins. The Velcro ("Brand One") material grips the backing well---oddly, REAL Velcro does NOT grip the background.> MY EXPERIENCE -- I wanted the case for my collection of (Visa lapel-type) Olympics pins. This case was a poor choice for that purpose.> CAUTION: I ordered this brand, model, and size, but received a larger size, apparently identical in design except for the size. However, there could be differences.> Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question. I was on the fence for holding Disney Pins, but this thing is perfect and the right price!
I scoured the web for something like this, and when I saw this, I was skeptical, because they usually appear cheap. But this thing is perfect and designed the right way complete with locking latch and the Disney pins we collect push right into the mount and look great under the glass. Plus this hangs direct on the wall and looks awesome. Highly recommend!

Fancy case for displaying Disney Pins!
I bought this for my wife to display her Disney Pin collection. She has collected many pins over the years and they had previously just been attached to various lanyards or left in a the bag they were bought in. Now she has her entire collection visible and hanging on the wall to show off! I like that it is easy to reposition pins as needed and the case can be easily opened.

Room for pins and more!
This is perfect for a large collection. Got it for my dads baseball pin collection that spans 5 decades. Not only can you push pins into it, but I got Velcro backs to display ticket stubs too. A year later and everything is still in its place.

Protective shield can't be removed without damaging lid!
Little bit pricey, but will serve the purpose. I will probably send it back as the paper-backed adhesive designed to keep the lid safe in shipping can't be removed! The paper separates from the paper, leaving a sticky goo! Since the lid is plastic, not sure how to clean it without damaging the lid.
