機械式のスナップスイッチの組合せで接続を切替える構造なので電源不要。接点の接触不良無ければ信頼性は高いと思われるが使用部品のメーカーなどが確認出来ないので期待するしか無いが、接続端子の出来栄えは良い感じがする。接続等で不具合が発生しても構造が単純だから、スイッチ部品の交換で自前対応可能。難点は切替操作が硬い(強い)ことと、価格が高いこと。数分の1の価格で類似機能の商品は入手できるが簡易なスライドスイッチでは耐久性に難あり、私は無骨な本商品を選んだ。
