It does a pretty good job
My wine fridge broke down recently. Upon taking it apart, I found out it was thermoelectric, and I found out what thermoelectric meant. I found a bunch of dried, caked-on thermal conductive paste, and attempting to fix the situation, I yanked one of the wires out of the old, possibly broken, cooler. So I found this, which also said TEC1-12705 on it. I soldered it onto the old wires and put some heat shrink over it so you'd swear it came like that from the factory. I made sure I knew which side was hot. I made sure to shock myself on the transformer while I was testing this (don't do that). I put it back together with a *reasonable* (pea-sized) amount of Arctic Silver or some such, on each side. Then I slowly, calmly tightened it all together. (I'd avoid flattening out the paste at all. Just make sure it goes on flat and tighten it.)What I have now is a wine fridge that's working better than it ever has before. I've never been able to get it down to 54F (which is the minimum), it's always been 56F. Maybe it's replacing the trashy thermal paste job, maybe it's the quality of this cooler, I just know I needed this and it worked great. Now if only there was a way to trick my fridge into going colder...

Work Great but ceramic is delicate
These work perfectly but even slight pressure on the corner can chip the ceramic. The Peltier plate I was replacing was not nearly as fragile. Take appropriate precautions during handling and install.

cheap, reliable, smart fix for my wine cooler
I used 2 pcs TEC1-12705 Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler 12V 50W 77Wmax as the replacement in my dual zone wine cooler. The previous modules are broke down, maybe because of the 6 years of usage. The process was easy. Please check wich one is the cool and hot side before you put everything in place. (I've used some 18650 battery for the test). After one month of heavy load (summertime), they're working well.

Thermoelectric cooler
Not being familiar with thermoelectric devices, I literally burned through 3 of these, before I contacted the seller, who gave me advice that worked. To wit, do not connect the thermoelectric device to 12 volts, until it is fully encapsulated in its heat sink. From elsewhere, I learned that you need to determine which side of the device is cooling, by briefly connecting the leads with correct polarity (red=positive; black=negative) to a 9-volt battery.

I am not entirely satisfied with this purchase.
This review is for 2 pcs TEC1-12705 Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler 12V 50W 77Wmax.I am not entirely satisfied with this purchase. The two units arrived on-time, packaged in a flimsy plastic bag; one of the units had a chipped corner (upper left in attached photo).I ordered these as an exact replacement for a failing unit in a wine-cooler which uses only one Peltier unit. I tested both units before replacing and both appeared to be working well under test conditions (warm on one side and cool on the other). However, when either of the two was installed in the wine cooler, the temperature did not drop to the expected, chilled level. It is quite possible that I did something wrong during replacement; however, I have since performed the same repair with satisfactory outcome using TEC1-12705 from a different supplier

Excellent operate fully within specs.
Excellent operate fully within specs. Replaced a device in a wine cooler and it is preforming correctly at a cost far less than the manufacturer wanted.

Worked...but not for long
I bought this to fix a small four bottle wine cooler. Installation was easy and it worked great, cooling down to the normal low temp for my fridge (46f). Sadly, the unit failed and completely stopped cooling after about three weeks. Poor quality, too bad!
