Basic Russian
The author of this book is a native Russian speaker who has learned five languages and obviously has a talent for languages. Though Russian is a notoriously difficult language to learn, this book may be helpful to those getting started or dabbling in Russian. It is clear to this reviewer that it won’t be easy, though the author shows the way to learn it in a straightforward, concise manner with plenty of examples that will help a determined person to learn a lot on their own. The author advises readers to be flexible in using the book, feel free to jump in anywhere to learn a particular subject (for example, nouns, verbs, pronouns), or to start at the beginning and work through to the end. The book is organized in three parts: grammar, conversational language, and dictionaries (numerals, verbs, nouns, adjectives, irregular verbs, and links). The author’s strategy to facilitate learning is to learn the perfective aspect of verbs, what to memorize and what not to memorize, and to listen to living language. The book itself is organized in terms of alphabet, verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, conversational language, and the dictionaries. It is relatively short (103 pages), and could be used as primary text for the beginning Russian student or quick reference document for the more advanced student.

Learn Russian from a Russian!
I'm a super huge fan of language books that are written by actual speakers of that language (I mean their mother tongue is whatever language, not professors of that language, because let's face it, when they're just written by foreign scholars of said language you're taking a huge chance, because they may very well be wrong. Maybe they didn't fully master something about the language themselves and they may not even know it.). On that note, I almost always buy books either from the country's universities in the language I'm studying, or buy books written by natives of that language. All it usually takes is an email to the university in that country, and you'd be surprised how much they'll help you free of charge. That being said, this title is an excellent resource. However, there are a few typographical errors in the English parts, but if you already speak English, then that isn't a concern for you. This title breaks the grammar down into bite-size bits, and even offers samples so you can see the grammar in action while you are learning it while he blends it in with conversational Russian.I highly recommend this title.

Money well spent!
Money well spent! I have been having trouble getting all the verb forms and this little book was real handy. Just wish it was longer! I am doing Duolingo and while it's nice, they don't explain a lot so I was getting lost. Maybe I will learn Russian yet!

Russian Language Course at it's best
Teaching myself Russian and picked this book up a few months back. This is by far one of the best Learning Language books for Russian that I have used. Easy to learn exercises and good word building exercises. If you are learning Russian, this book needs to be in your collection.

Just what I was looking for
As of me writing this, I've only read about 4 pages into the book and this was exactly what I was looking for. Just off the first few pages, the author begins to explain who the grammer effects the ending of the word(s) and for me personally, I couldn't find a book that explained it in the way the book does.. (the author is a native russian, if I'm correct)

Fair
I got this book with ZERO knowledge of Russian whatsoever. Since then, I have acquired many other Russian language/grammar books. So far, this book has been just ok. For a language book, it does have a surprising number of typos & mistakes (in English, at least). This book does not include one important aspect of the Russian language: stressed vowels. All the other Russian books I have show you which vowels to stress when pronouncing words. There were also some differences in how to pronounce certain vowels, compared to all my other Russian books. Regarding the book itself, the front cover text looks a bit fuzzy, almost as if this was a "do it yourself" job, or perhaps an unauthorized copy. There is no text on the spine of the book, and no publishing info, which seems odd. I give it 3 stars because I know there is some value in this book. I might come back to it later, once I get through my other Russian books.
