Starrett Tape Measure Stix with Adhesive Backing - Mount to Work Bench, Saw Table, Drafting Table - 1/2" x 12', English Metric, Right-Left Reading - SM412WMERL

I really like this product but it could be improved. I use it on my sliding tablesaw. What i really like is having the english and metric measure on the same tape. The first 12 inches of the tape have each inch divided into 32nd of an inch. Unfortunately, the following 11 feet of the tape have the inch divisions divided only into 16th of inch. The change that I would STRONGLY recommend would to make all inches throughout the entire 12 feet of this tape divided into 32nd. A 32 of an inch is a smaller actual division than a mm and I like to have both scales side by side to look at before making a cut. Strange as it seems, I actually use both scales when working and being able to see them them side by side, all the time, makes it very easy and intuitive to think both in terms of m, cm mm and foot and inches.

This is a really nice tape, good adhesive, seems durable and very nicely marked. However, when installing you need to keep it back off the very edge of your bench. This thing is RAZOR sharp. The way I had it installed if you run your hand down the front edge of the bench or make hard contact with it in the course of working you will inflict some damage. After slicing myself on it twice, I removed it and trashed it. I will probably buy another and install it 1/8” back from the edge of my bench.Update: I did by another and installed it as stated above. Same good quality as the first one. Makes a convenient way to measure quickly at the bench. Happy with the purchase.

I usually trust this brand for accurate measuring devices. But this time, I was disappointed. I used a right-to-left, and bought another left-to-right to use on my table saw fence slide.The GOOD: Easy to read, sticks VERY well, durable (both the tape itself as well as the ink), and easy to apply.The BAD: The WORST thing about this tool is that it is made in china. In addition, it is inaccurate. The farther away from "0", the greater the inaccuracy (at 24" from "zero", the error is about 1/8"). I verified this with an accurate tape measure from the inside of my thin-kerf 10" table saw blade to my fence. The only thing I could think of is that because the tape is metal, the change in temperature of my shop expands / contracts the tape, thus changing the accuracy.

I purchased the adhesive backed measure tape to use on a cutting table in my sewing room. It was very easy to apply and the adhesive is very good. I applied it to the long end of my 4 foot by 8 foot table. I needed an 8 foot measuring tape, but had to buy the 12 foot because 8 foot was not available. That was the only downside to my purchase. I basically wasted 4 feet of measuring tape. However, this tape works so well and meets my needs to a "T!" It makes measuring fabric for quilts so easy. I'm don't have to worry about where my measuring tape is (I'm always losing it!). It is always handy and the fact that it's attached to the table is great. Shipping was very quick. I definitely recommend this seller and this measuring tape. You can't go wrong!!

Even better than I expected. I used the tape on my table saw fence and couldn't be happier. Cuts with side cutters and a hearty squeeze. The adhesive is 3M brand and adheres very well even to slick painted surfaces. Since it's made of (spring?) steel, it installs STRAIGHT and flat with only minimal effort. The first foot is graduated in 1/32nds, remaining tape is graduated in 1/16ths. This has proven to be very handy - the small graduations are great for short cross cuts and rips, while the wider marks are (almost) always sufficient for cuts between 12 and 50 inches. I haven't used the metric side, but I guess it's nice knowing it's there - and I never really understood the logic behind putting the same scale on the a tape twice. For the first time, I'm finding myself using the fence scale to set cut width rather than a tape measure. I haven't found any appreciable inaccuracies anywhere across the entire 50"+ length I'm using. Starrett has a great reputation in every industry I've worked in - it's nice to see that the quality is carried over into more consumer oriented product at a very reasonable price.

Easy to cut and just clean the surface well and make sure it's dry. I used rubbing alcohol (91%) on a fishing cart made of aluminum. The one one the cart was WRONG!!! LOL! Great product and sticks well. I'll re-post if if comes off but I doubt it will.2017 - Update: It totally rusted. I had to remove. If using outside, it seems like a bad idea. Maybe it can be clear coated. Nice product but needs to be used in a dry environment.

Thiis was a perfect solution to "where is a measuring tape"?This printed metsl adhesive backed meauribg tape now extends the fukl length of our white board in our classroom for convenient measuring of sail battens.Our batten inventory is at least 500, and measuring these is a regular ordeal.Works perfect and appears accurate.

I actually bought two of these adhesive tape measures; one for my cross cut sled and one for my work bench. These are amazing! I can't believe I hadn't seen these before as I browsed for useful shop accessories.They come in rough-to-left and left-to-right versions so pay attention to which one you are buying.I def recommend this product.

Before I tell you about the beware part, let me tell you that the quality of this tape is outstanding. It is indeed metal, like an 'in your toolbox' measuring tape. I got to run up my 8 1/2 ft cutting table with the rest going on my industrial sewing machine table...now the the 'beware' part. It is my own fault for not digging deeper and asking questions. From the pics, the tape looked about an inch wide...which is what I wanted for my old eyes. It's only 1/2 inch wide with imperial and metric crammed onto opposite edges...so, much tinier printing that what I need. I would recommend this product 100% based on quality and ease of installation, but rate it quite low on readability for us geezers.

With 3 tape measures scattered (somewhere) around my shop you'd think this was unnecessary. The thing is though, I always know whee this one is; it's stuck on the front of my workbench. It's also quicker and easier to use when you just have a piece of board or something and need to know how long it is. After you get this on your workbench, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. I have a couple of different brands of these in the shop and the quality of the Starrett is definitely superior to the other one. Good product at a reasonable price.

Great addition to my table saw,easy to cut and apply to your table saw. Very accurate and easy to see. I put one on the front of my Saw and one on the back,now my cuts are spot on. Very fast shipping arrived in less than a week,thanks Amazon for this great product. Now when I cut or rip a work piece the cut is true on both sides. Would recommend to anyone who owns a table saw,don't know how I ever did without this product in the past,now my cuts are very very accurate.

Used it as replacement strip on my table saw fence . Seems ok . The only thing that remains to be seen is the longevity of the 2-way tape , but it’s 3m about should be ok .
