Axiom Transit Rear Bike Rack
Axiom Transit Rack was delivered in great condition. Easy install if your bike have bras-ons or your tires don't rub. I had to use frame clamps which did not come with the rack. I am happy with the construction and weight of the rack. I wish it came with the additional mounting hardware which used to come with their products. Nice light weight and sturdy rack.

All in all, I'm very happy.
First, I'll note that the rack fits over my 700 x 38c tire and my fender. Prior posters have had some discussion about this. The only hangup was that the reflector bracket would not work with the fender. I use lights on my belt and hat, so it's not an issue for me. Other than that, the rack came on time and complete. It had no directions. I have installed my own racks several times in the past and did not need instructions. I imagine even a newbie could install this simple unit, but it would be reassuring to have some help and the instructions might be needed. The rack has a high capacity (60 kg). I have not loaded it that heavily, but I use two kitty-litter buckets as panniers. I have filled those with groceries more than once already and seen no sign of trouble. That amount of groceries weighs about 30 to 40 pounds (13 to 18 kg), and that is above the weight limits of most other racks in this price range.I have noticed that the paint scratches easily. It's wise to be careful about that if appearance matters to you.

Great product!
After reading other reviews I was concerned about fit but it is fine for my 2015 Giant Escape 1 M. The official specs are at: http://www.axiomgear.com/products/racks/journey-racks/transit/But they are misleading as they measure the stays to the top of the rack (355 mm) a rather useless measurement I think, rather than the bottom of the rack (348 mm). But the stays gave me 7/8" clearance above my 700 cc tire and that's what matters.I had to spread the stays but the whole job took less than half an hour; it looks great, nice hardware, very sturdy, and no rattles or noises. But most importantly for me is the fact that at 550 g it is the lightest affordable rack on the market with good reviews. I could only find a couple of other racks that were lighter but they cost at least three times more and had non-traditional designs and/or poor reviews.

Nice rack, but no instructions.
As others noted, it was a bit tricky to put the rack on the bike and keep the rack level, but if you are a little mechanically inclined it is not too bad. You will need a 3mm hex wrench (not supplied). Be sure your bike has pre-drilled holes with 32 TPI threads, or you will need to drill your own and tap the threads.Good quality rack overall. It does not have a spring loaded clamp. The front stamped sheet metal supports (not shown) seem a little flimsy. Not up to the quality of the rest of the rack. Also, mine has a chunk of metal rattling around inside the sealed aluminum tubing. Hopefully, the sound does not drive me crazy(er) while riding. Not enough for me to return it though.

Installation was a pain. Noisy when not carrying load.
Installing a bike rack should only take 20 minutes but I had to spend a few hours to get this one to fit on my bike. For reference, my bike is a 58cm Jamis quest sport road bike. The first difficulty was securing the lower stays. The vertical supports on the rack are about two inches narrower than the spacing between my lower eyelets. I had no choice but to forcibly spread the metal legs to get them in place. Doing this was somewhat clumsy since I had to keep the metal legs apart, hold the rack in place and screw the bolts into the eyelets all at once. The next challenge was fastening the top of the rack to the frame. The problem here was that the rack barely cleared my brake calipers. See those two shiny flat metal rods sticking out from the top of the rack? Those are what secure the rack to the frame. I had to bend one of those metal rods with clamp and a pair of pliers to get it around my break calipers. Again, this was clumsy and probably undermined the integrity of the frame. In the end, I managed to securely install this rack on my bike. It took a few hours, a flat head screw driver, a pair of pliers, a hex screw driver and a lot of elbow grease. The clumsy installation process resulted in a few scratches on frame but that's my fault. I would not recommend this rack to anyone. You would be much better off buying a rack that has adjustable components.

Seriously strong, Surprisingly light.
To be honest, I only bought the Transit rather than the Journey because the Journey wasn't actually available in my country. Nevertheless, in conjunction with the Wald W582BL Baskets and a couple of Bungee nets, it's working out perfectly - except for being incompatible with my current tail-light, but that's the light's fault.I (80+kg) sat on it for a second and it didn't collapse, so that's good - although the front is bendier than I'd like.

Great for the money
Great for the money! You do need to have the adapter piece for your seat post. Luckily the bike shop that installed mine had something that would work. It needs to be attached to the frame above the wheel, so make sure you have holes there. If not, you can drill them (the bike shop did it for me). It is very stable and holds all my groceries. So far I have only put about 50 pounds on it, but still strong and unmoved! Very happy with it, but probably couldn't have installed it myself and I am pretty darn handy.

Too short
This is a nice rack (always like saying that!) but the stays (legs) are too short to fit my bike - a Giant Cypress DX hybrid with 700mm tires. I ordered 2 of these, one black for my daughter's 26" Schwinn, and one silver for my Giant. The rack is very lightweight but very strong, and it looks nice on the 26" bike, but because the stays are about 1" too short, it hits the tire on the 700cm bike. The stay length is advertised as 354mm, but it's more like 348mm to the bottom of the rack - it's simply too short to fit a 700mm diameter tire.If you have a 26" bike, I can recommend this rack without hesitation, but it's too short to clear larger tires. I gave it 5 stars because it is a very good product, just doesn't work with my bike.

This is amazing, a lot lighter than others available and well ...
Although these lacked instructions explaining that the two connection struts can/need to be bent/bowed for installation. This is amazing, a lot lighter than others available and well priced. simple and effective! Also acts as some what of a mud guard.
