Juniper Hill: The Edens

Knox is woahhh swoon worthy!
“Knox was a good man. He was as reliable as the sunrise. As breathtaking as the Montana sunsets. He was the type of person I wanted Drake to become.”When you just have that feeling that a series is amazing and you are only two books in…yes it’s this series! Devney Perry is amazing and this series is wonderful!Memphis has just arrived to Quincy; frazzled and exhausted with her son, Drake. All she is looking for is Juniper Hill and she finally hit her breaking point. Luckily, our favorite town officer escorted her to Juniper Hill. Memphis is overwhelmed, exhausted and ready for a break. She’s left her ghosts behind her and is ready to start new with Drake but her ghosts are not ready to go quite yet. She does get a nice little distraction from her new roommate.Oh Knox Eden…our broody chef, we all love. Knox will do anything for his family and it shows because he has agreed to let a complete stranger live on his property. You can definitely tell Knox is not all the hard nose he is in the beginning. Knox has his own ghosts in his past and some of them start lingering to the present.I love that with the help of a little boss and the power of food (I mean who wouldn’t fall head of heels when a man is cooking for you) these two crashed together. Knox is so confident in what he wants and Memphis knows how much she wants him but she still has doubts. I love that this one looked at some of the struggles mothers deal with after the give birth. I 100% recommend this series!

Laidback and sexy
So bingeable, with a hero who is the sweetest man underneath his frosty exterior, this made for the perfect introduction to this small town series. Yes, I skipped right to the book with the tropes I was most interested in, lol, and I have no regrets. It's clear that the series is tied together enough that each book will have readers intrigued about future installments, but the books will also read as standalones with no trouble at all. I loved getting to know the characters, and the hero ended up being even better than anticipated - a man whose past hurts lead him to make an intimidating first impression, but who is actually loyal and loving underneath it all. I absolutely melted at the (plentiful) scenes with him caring for the heroine's newborn baby, and the scenes with him showing extreme competence in the kitchen were just as addictive. The romance builds quickly once they get past the initial friction, and that made for an easygoing, devourable story. It's engaging enough to hold your interest the whole way through, yet laidback enough to feel low angst and tender. The story follows Memphis, a former heiress who has just arrived in a small, rustic town, hoping to make a new life for herself. While she once lead a very different life, the birth of her son - only two months ago - has vastly changed Memphis' perspective on things. Penniless and alone, overwhelmed and trying her best, Memphis is disheartened when she discovers that her new landlord is a sexy grump of a man who clearly doesn't want her around. Memphis has not only invaded Knox's home, but also his workplace, and it's not long before the two come face-to-face again and again. But Knox is determined to keep Memphis at arm's length, and Memphis is determined to prove that she can make it on her own - so the tension that simmers between them is clearly just bottled up irritation... right?I'm pretty new to Perry's work, as my only experience with her writing is a Christmas novella or two. But I've been intrigued by this series for awhile now, so I decided to choose my first full-length novel from her wisely. And that ended up being a great strategy, because this was the kind of romance that hits all the right notes for me. We've got an endearing, swoonworthy hero; a resilient heroine who stands up for herself when necessary; a unique, dynamic setting; and a touch of suspense to keep things interesting. It's the kind of read that's a little tougher to describe - it's not a rom com, it's not overly angsty, but it's compelling with a hint of emotion. There's a touch of spice, but the focus is on the emotional connection. And the length was perfect for bingeing in one sitting. So this was a great re-introduction to Perry's work, and it's got me excited to read more from the author.Audio note: The audio is excellent! It's dual narration, featuring my personal favorite narrator, Jason Clarke. He gives a great performance with his deep and gravelly voice, as does Maxine Mitchell. I would say that this is more Memphis' story than Knox's, but there's plenty of chapters from each's perspective. The tone works well in the audio format, and the runtime is ideal for a single day - just over 8 hours. You could start this at the beginning of the workday and be done before you clock out for the day, which is a definite bonus. There's only a few steamy scenes, and the story is a slowish burn overall, so not too much time is devoted to that. I think that the book is absolutely enhanced by the audio performances, so I enthusiastically recommend the format.

Juniper Hill - The Edens #2 - Review
Juniper Hill - The Edens #2 - ReviewCouple: Memphis Ward & Knox EdenAuthor: Devney PerryTropes: single mother, found family, small tide, tortured past, troubled heroReview: Devney welcomes us back to the Eden family in this book and turns up the heat between a single mother in hiding and a grumpy chef. The book is dual POV and intense. It centers around Memphis and Knox who are very similar underneath their exteriors. We meet Memphis after she is hired by the Eloise Hotel and trying to start a life for her and her son. Memphis is a strong FMC who takes nothing and paves her own way. I enjoyed her character and the growth she has in this book since her past begins to unravel as the book goes on. Knox on the other hand is a man unable to move on from his past. His emotional trauma and story were beautiful to watch unfold and Devney really did his character justice with her words. Knox was my favorite character in this book and his ability to find love again after heartbreak really drew me into his story. I appreciated how Devney made him broody and distant at first but not overly cold. The book is insta-lust but slow burn in the spice. The two MMCs are explosive but hesitant due to their past and it is imperfectly perfect for them. I enjoyed how Memphis and Knox are open with each other and allow their trust to build before jumping to the steamy parts of their romance. I also really loved how they come together. There is elements of mystery and thriller in this story since Memphis’ sons’ father is an unknown at first. The shocking revelation really added depth to her character and showed how resilient she was to change. I loved seeing the prior characters in this book and how welcoming they were to her. I recommend this to anyone who loves Devney or s mal town romances.Rating: 9/10, Knox and Memphis….cue the tears

So in love with Knox!!!
Oh my, I absolutely loved this book!Devney’s books get better and better.Memphis drives across the country with her son to start a new life, living in a small loft about Knox Eden’s house. She isn’t really running from her last she is just creating a better one for her son.Knox is an amazing chef who is trying not to fall for his new neighbor. He knows that Memphis is keeping secrets about her life (not a fan of secrets but understands) and is trying to coexist with her and her son.Oh I didn’t expect the turns that happened in this book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My favorite comfort read
5⭐I love this book with all my heart. Memphis and Knox are one of my favorite couples and I come back to this book whenever I need a comfort read.✨Small Town Romance✨Forced Proximity✨Single mother✨Workplace✨Grumpy/SunshineI just adore their relationship, how they both slowly start opening up to each other and help each other overcome some form of trauma or mistreatment. How during their late-night visits, when Knox comes over to get Drake to sleep, they start opening up to each other, starting with small stuff like how Knox became a chef to stuff like how Memphis ended up in Montana. How they both are respectful of each other and their secrets, while they both would like to know what is going on with the other, they both don't push it but encourage the other to open up more and more. But my favorite thing has to be how they both just understand what the other needs, like how Memphis knows that Knox needs something to do when he has the photo shoot for the article or how Knox knows that she needs reassurance that he wants her and Drake and that he will take all her best days and give her so many that she can't keep track of all of them."You were so alone that you left. Because you had no one. But you've got me now. And like I told you the other night, I'm not going anywhere." Maybe if I told her enough, she'd believe it."Promise?"I dropped a kiss to her mouth. "I swear it."Through this book, I also discovered that I just adore single-parent romances. I just truly adore how the new partner comes in and treats the other partner's children like they are their own. How for Juniper Hill Knox overcame his own trauma and bad experience that he had with a previous girlfriend and her child to be there for Memphis and Drake. I adore how he calls him 'Boss' and how he started coming around at night to take care of him so that Memphis could catch a break and actually get some rest. And when he calls Drake his son during the family's Thanksgiving dinner, I just swooned."My boy's a morning kid.""Not mine." Knox pulled out the stool beside his brother. "Mine's a night owl."

Officially obsessed with the Edens.
Officially obsessed with the Edens.I'm not the kind of man who gives up on what's good. And we are good. We're good, honeyTropes:- Small Town- Single Mother- Forced Proximity- Found Family- Hero Falls First (and Hard!)- Romantic Suspense- Grumpy/Reserved Hero- Strong / Kickass HeroineKnox Eden was E V E R Y T H I N G! I loved watching him open up and fall in love with Memphis and little Drake, after years of sorrow and isolation following his ex' betrayal. I really admired Memphis' strength and resilience...and her fear of not being a good mom or not be doing enough for her son Drake felt real and relatable. Their romance was one of the sweetest and most I've ever read (but worry not, there's definitely spice!).The small town/found family vibes are strong in this one: I loved how the Edens, and especially Eloise, welcomed Memphis and Drake into their folds since the very beginning and made them feel safe and loved! The suspense element kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end and made Knox, Memphis and Drake's happy ending that much sweeter. This series just keeps getting better and I cannot wait to read Garner Flats and dive into Talia and Foster's story.

𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒆.”5/5⭐️• Single mum• Grumpy x Sunshine• Small town• Found family• Forced proximity• Workplace romanceMemphis wants to start fresh with a new life with her baby, and what better place to do that then in the small town of Quincy. Her boss at her new job at the Eloise inn helps her to find a place to live, above the garage of the town’s resident chef and grump. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for the grump, or for him to fall for not only her, but her son too. So when her past life starts to catch up on her, it sends a lot of road bumps for them to deal with. This book was just perfect! I want my own Knox to cook for me and look after me! Who wouldn’t want a tattooed grump who also knows how to cook. Watching him care for both Memphis and Drake gave me all the feels and was the cutest thing to read. I felt so bad for Memphis as we learnt more about her background and watching her struggle initially with being a single parent. Memphis however was not the only one struggling with their past and watching Knox both accept and overcome his trauma meant that he got everything he deserved. Parts of the plot felt like a bit of a stretch but i didn’t care because of how much i fell in love with these characters. I loved seeing the rest of the Eden’s and cannot wait to read Talia’s story.

This series is just too good!
I can't believe it took me this long to start reading this series! The small town romances written by Devney are just so amazing and addicting that I can't get enough!! I loved Knox and Memphis' story, the way they found in each other what they couldn't find before, and the amount of swoon-worthy moments between Knox and Drake were just too perfect!Loved every second of that 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 (except when Jill showed up, I hated her 😅)

A romance that lives up to the hype!
I've heard so many good things about this book so I'm glad to say that I definitely get the hype! This is for those who love small-town romances and the single parent trope, oh, and a good dose of angsty back and forth! Although this does have a lot of drama and suspense, there is no third-act breakup, which is great cos there was already enough drama surrounding Memphis from the start. This was my first book in The Edens series and I enjoyed the small-town and close-knit family vibes. Quincy seems like an idyllic and picturesque town that's far away from big city life and it wasn't hard to picture the sprawling fields and rolling mountains surrounding it. In Quincy, The Edens are like royalty and they're basically known everywhere and by everyone and it was fun getting to know all of them. I think if there's anything that I wished we got more of, it'd be the closeness between the siblings. We're told they all have a good relationship and I enjoyed the loud and messy family moments but this aspect felt more "tell" than "show". I was really missing more of the sibling/family banter and conversations which I usually love in these romances and I was bummed we didn't get more of that here.Memphis and Knox were a great couple and I thought they made a great team. Memphis is a single mother and former Park Avenue Princess who has been disowned by her heartless snobby family in New York. She comes to Quincy looking for a fresh start and ends up staying in Knox's loft with her baby boy, Drake, and she basically tries to survive from one day to the next. Although at times I felt her storyline became a bit too dramatic and mopey, especially as she kept crying, it wasn't hard to empathise with Memphis. She's led a spoiled and sheltered life but she also knows it and she's willing to do anything to give her son a better life without the control and restraints put on her own. She's tenacious, hard-working and has quite the fighting spirit but it was also heartwarming to see her receive the love and care she never got from her own family through Knox and the Edens. Knox was your typical grumpy MMC with a hurtful past that drove him to live a solitary life in Juniper Hill. He's the big muscled, tatted-up chef at Knuckles, the restaurant at The Eloise Inn owned by his family and I gotta tell ya, it's a combo that really worked for him. 😂 I love how supportive Knox was of Memphis and how he basically worshipped at her altar. Every time he'd cook for her and take care of her and Drake it'd make me melt a little more inside. If you love a simp hero, Knox is your man!The tension between them built up beautifully but it was pretty taut from the beginning. You could've sliced through the sexual tension with a knife and oof, the angst of them trying to stay away while continuously orbiting each other was intense! Did I think their romance moved quickly? Honestly, it felt a little 'instalove' because I don't know how quickly time passed for them to get so close and develop such strong feelings. But there was something about their relationship that just felt right and (as corny as it sounds) meant to be. Their steamy scenes were also a lot of fun and a surprise because I've read one book by this author which was fade-to-black and reviews for the first book in this series said it's closed-door too, so I assumed this'd be the same. It's not (if that makes a difference to you) and with their intense chemistry, it was really no wonder that when they finally got together it'd be fire hot! 🥵Overall, this was a great single-parent romance and I've already picked up the next book in the series because after that cliffhanger in the epilogue, I can't wait to read Talia's story! 😍
