Intex Easy Set 15ft x 42in Inflatable Ring Above Ground Pool Set w/Pump

The very first thing to note is 2 things. First, the pool is great. You can't go wrong here. Second, keep in mind, it's not just the pool you'll need. The this version of the pool comes with a pump, necessary hoses, and 2 filters. Intex sells additional filters as singles or in a pack of 6. The filters you need are: Intex 29000E/59900E. We bought the 12 foot version in May of 2016. It's worked great so far. It took about an hour to setup. I used a tarp underneath which Intex does not recommend, but we did it anyway to protect the bottom. It took about 3-4 hours to fill up the pool. This one comes with the pump and filter setup which is a must to keep the water clean. We also bought some basic pool chemicals, and both available covers by Intex. The cover we use the most is the solar cover. Where we live its around 90-100 degrees F daily. You should also have a strainer for this pool to get the leaves and larger organic matter out of the pool. The included pump/filter setup is really just the get the stuff the strainer can't get. As far as having flat ground, Intex makes a big deal about having this pool level. See the picture of our setup. It's basically like a big bag, so think of what happens when you fill a bag with water on an uneven surface. It's going to roll to one side a bit. In my case the ground is about 4 inches lower on one side than the other. The pool still works fine in my opinion, just the water is not as deep as it could be, but I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The 2 year old can touch the bottom with ease yet the pool is still deep enough to for my 4 year old to swim laps and for my 6.5 foot frame to swim under water. I've never maintained my own pool before so I got some water test strips, PH booster, and Chorine Sanitizer. I have to put about 1/3 cup chlorine in per week. Go easy on the PH booster because using that will increase the Total Alkalinity, I recommend the Clorox pool products. Intex recommends you change the filter every 2 weeks. The first time I changed the filter at two weeks I saw surprised at how much gunk was in it. It seems like you could clean it yourself to extend the life of the filter but will try that next time. For a season Intex sells a six pack of filters so I bought that as well. For the cost the pump is clearly cheap, but seems to be well made considering the limit budget for materials. The pump on the 12 foot pool will filter 500 gallons per hour so you should plan to leave it on for at least 3 hours on most days. Also bought Intex's foot bath to wash the feet before getting in the pool (shown in picture). That helps to keep the junk out. Final price including a few pool Toys was about $350, including the $79 for the pool. So expect to pay more than just the cost of the pool, but after searching all over for an above ground temporary pool (one with no frame and expensive pump/filter setups) I can't be happier so far with this one. Just the thing we needed to keep cool in the summer and provide some fun for the kids. Aug 2016 update: Everything is going great. At one point, I had a problem with Green Algae, but apparently so did the pools in Rio for the Olympics. I n my case the problem ended up being too much Stabilizer, which prevented the Chlorine from doing it's job. I ended up replacing my chemicals and tester strips. Make sure your test kit includes a test for Stabilizer. I purchased the AquaChek 551236 7-Way 100 Count Pool Water Test Strips and I'm very happy with those.

I wasn't sure what to think about this pool because I had seen some mixed reviews. It did take me three different tries to set up the pool on three different days, but that is because I kept needing to relevel the pool manually with a shovel. Ultimately I just decided to risk it and set the pool up even though there was a slight...couple of inch difference in the levelness of the pool on one quarter section. I had read some reviews that insisted that the pool must be exactly perfectly level.... And am relieved to report that even though mine is slightly off due to some rock impeding my ability to achieve perfect level ground.... The pool has been up for almost 2 months now and it's doing just fine. I think if a whole half of the pool were off, this would be different. In any case, I have friends over regularly to do water aerobics and it's a lovely time. Pool is still going great. The pump works pretty good, but you are definitely going to need one of those vacuum things. I bought one on Amazon I think it was by Intex as well for 28 bucks. If you have any trees letting off leaves, you will want the pool vacuum thing. I also bought a pool skimmer device but haven't attached it yet because surprisingly the pool is pretty easy to maintenance if you do it everyday. The pool does not require as much work as some people make it out to be in my opinion. I find it easier to leave the pool uncovered and just fish out the leaves everyday. It motivates me to also use the pool on a regular basis and makes it easier to monitor the pool's cleanliness when I can actually see it. In terms of chemical maintenance, I just bought some 3-in chlorine tablets, put some chlorine stabilizer in every now and then because of its exposure to sun.... (The sun destroys chlorine more quickly for those who don't know and the sun also promotes the growth of algae if the pool is not adequately chlorinated.) I also shocked the pool when it gets cloudy, which has only been once in the last 2 months. I am usually pretty bad about maintaining stuff, so if maintaining the pool is easy for me, it should probably be pretty easy for most people. Seriously. It's a small pool and it has a filter that runs on a timer. I should also note that I don't like using the cover. It catches leaves and other crap that end up going into the pool when you remove the cover anyway. So it's easier for me to just leave the cover off and fish out some leaves whenever I see them floating. If they sit on the cover too long they disintegrate, and then you have to break out the vacuum instead of just using a net. I realize at this point it's at the end of pool season, but what a great time to get a deal on this pool. I'm disappointed I didn't wait a little longer to buy it because it was more than $100 cheaper a month after I bought it. Finally, I need to go back to the pool setup. It was actually very easy. Surprisingly easy. It would have been easier if my land were already level. Nevertheless it was so easy, that I set the pool up and took down the pool three separate times three days in a row while trying to get the thing level. I didn't fill it all the way the first two times but did on the 3rd. This pool is over 5,000 gallons, so be prepared for a giant water bill. Where I live, my water bill ended up being about $170. The base bill is normally $35.... And I don't normally pay more than $35 so.... Count on a steep waterbill whenever you fill it. As long as this pool holds up for a while, I would definitely recommend buying it again. And if anything happens in the next year or so, I'll update this. Otherwise you can assume that it's still going strong.

The picture I'm sharing is how my pool looked after 5 days of being put up. Yes, you are seeing a completely drained pool in the process of being taken down to return to Amazon. I'm five months pregnant and I bought this pool to help get me through a summer pregnancy. My feet swell up like balloons anytime I try to walk for more than 15 minutes, I've got carpal tunnel in my hands, and I've gained so much baby weight I can barely walk. I sought out a cheap pool that would last a few years just to get the relief of feeling weightless in water. I saw this pool and thought it would be awesome because I'm 4'11" in height and the pool looked short enough for me to get in with little trouble. Setting up the pool was pretty easy. The instructions have a DVD you can watch to see setup filmed out. The DVD I got was faulty and when I put it in two different DVD players, my laptop, and my PS3 it made them make this loud whirling sound that DVD players shouldn't make. The DVD never worked but thankfully it was on youtube and I watched there. Even though I'm five months pregnant and can't move well because of my baby belly, I was able to put this pool together in a few hours. I didn't want to purchase the intex air pump so I cut off the top off a water bottle, duck taped it onto a hair drier, turned it on cold and used that to fill up the air tube. Filled it up really quickly. Be careful to ensure the surface is level. I had what really looked like a level surface but ended up having one side higher than the other. Because one side ended up lower, the pool never filled up on one side completely. In the deepest end, when I sat down the water reached my upper arms. For a pregnant woman this pool was wonderful while it lasted. It had just enough of a deepness that I could float and get the relief I needed. It was just deep enough I could actually swim around but could also sit and lounge to relax. The pool is small enough that the sun would heat the water a bit so that it was like taking a comfy bath outside. The pool came with a pool cover. I put it on at night and during the early morning hours it would heat the top of the pool water to keep it from being too cold when I swam in the evening. Unfortunately, I only got to get in 4 times before it busted somehow and all the water leaked out. I don't know what happened or where the leak started. One day the pool was nice and full and the next morning the pool was almost empty. All the filter and drain plugs were in tight. The air tube was fine and inflated fully. When I left the pool the day before there were no signs of leaks. I spent a good 5 hours trying to figure it out. There were no animals or children around. I was the only one using the pool and I just floated in it with no rough play. I looked everywhere around for the leak but couldn't figure it out. The pool was only up for 5 days. I'm so disappointed. Being pregnant and having to take the pool down and pack it up in 90 degree heat to return it was no easy task. I had a good, hormonal pregnant cry because I was so miserable losing the one thing that could give me relief from a rough pregnancy. If the pool hadn't busted it would have been a great relief from a hot summer for a pregnant woman. The plastic used to make the walls of the pool don't seem tough or thick enough to withstand much of a puncture which is what I think happened. It either had a factory defect or something during the night must have punctured a small hole somewhere in the walls of the pool. The air tube at the top also didn't seem to thick. Even though it kept inflated, when heated in the hot summer sun, it felt flimsy and thin. I'm sure a minor prick of something could easily pop it. After swimming and working hard putting it together I can tell you the pool isn't that high in quality. I'd spring for a more expensive, better quality pool over this one any day. I don't want another pool like this one. It wasn't worth all the work my suffering pregnant body had to go through to put it up to have it break so quickly.

This is a great little pool! It fits exactly what we needed! No you can’t swim around, but you definitely can dunk under, lay on a float, or just sit on the bottom and be pretty much submerged to your upper chest area. Again it’s perfect for us to cool off on the really hot days! Make sure you buy plenty of filters. They do get gunked up quickly!!! I can’t recommend this pool enough!

Love the pool so far but the cover that comes with it so stupid. It’s to big so the air holes in the top of it just fill the cover with water. It becomes a little lake on top of the cover which also makes it really hard to remove without taking a LOT of water with it. Highly recommend getting a different cover for it.

Best addition to our backyard! Hours of fun for the entire family! This thing is HUGEEEE! I’m 5’9” and have cannon balled off the ladder many times (despite warning to not lol). The pump runs super well, it definitely needs to run more than the instructions say. I actually keep mine running quite a bit and rinse the filter every other day or as soon as the yellow display shows. I also change the filter every two weeks and have had zero issues. It did take 12 hours total to fill but I am so pleased with the purchase.

***16 month update*** Thing is fine after summer #2. I stored it completely dry and loosely packed in a climate-controlled environment over the winter, the patches held fine and no concerns about tearing creases--I set it back up on the first truly hot day on top of my tarp tostada (read below). Filter is still doing its thing. Pool received very heavy use this summer, no new holes. I am convinced the holes are created by tight packing followed by hot/cold cycles stressing new material. If I were to buy another, I would leave it in a hot car all day before unpacking to make sure the material is supple and quickly get it flat before it cools off, and definitely fill it in stages watching for leaks at the creases. It seems fairly tough when tightened under water pressure. I also treated the upper ring with a some plastic and vinyl conditioner to prevent UV rot right when I set it up this year. I am popping it to 3 stars for the successful second season. Hopefully people see this review and take some precautions. ***original review follows*** Had three 1/4 inch holes at folded creases as packed, right out of the box. FOURTH spot in the pattern looks weak but is holding for now. The pool itself was too tightly bundled, it has nothing to do with handling. Too much strain on the material at the folds. Had to use included patch kit but probably wasted 800 gallons of water. Patches are iffy as I used the super thin adhesive backed ones. Maybe I'll patch properly later, in the instructions they call for silicone adhesive but don't include any. WTF??!! I couldn't wait for my RTV gasket maker to cure so bandaids it was. Called customer service but got tired of waiting after 30 min. Considered asking for a refund but F*** it, kids wanna swim. Filter hoses are unnecessarily long. No replacement filter included though they are cheap at Wal-Mart. Hose clamps are properly sized but seem like junk to me, we'll see. If they put a layer of 1/8 inch foam on the bottom before packing I doubt the creases would tear. It has one job--contain water--and it failed thrice because it was packed like it was destined for the space station. Not exactly shocking for the price and country of origin, but good Lord, how about a little QA stateside? I shouldn't have to repair a new item. Kids were crestfallen on Memorial Day. They sat and watched as the garden hose slowly brought the thing up to about a third full until I realized it was squirting at the folds. Took forever to drain and dry so I could clean and patch. I was pissed to dump so much perfectly good water. The drain plug is well placed, opposite the filter hookups, and I appreciated the inclusion of a garden hose adapter so my grass didn't go nuts. I will not be buying any Intex products in the future. Positives: once patched, nice experience. Filter seems to do a decent job. Like the addition of a bubbler to the discharge, it breaks the meniscus and sinks floating debris to be filtered. We have the magnetic inductive LED light and the little woman and I might have, you know, voided the warranty in the moonlight. Very spacious and though I have doubts about durability, the price is reasonable for what you get if it holds water (apparent crapshoot). Something like 1800 gallons to fill this SOB so make sure your HOA isn't going to persecute you for enjoying life. Still waiting on a letter. I bought an 18x32 foot heavy tarp, folded it in half, punched a tent stake through the middle, cut some cord and tied it to 6 feet with a loop at each end, grabbed a a sharpie, and traced out a 12 foot diameter circle, cut it into two tarp tortillas, cut old thick blankets 3 inches smaller in radius than the tarp circles, and encased the blankets inside the tarp sandwich by sealing the circumference and center holes with a hot glue gun, though I considered silicone. This is my floor pad as I have the thing on my back concrete patio. Nice and soft on the bottom now without any concern for friction leaks. Don't skimp on the blankets or the tarp. I was going to use carpet in there originally but I came up short. The "pads" on the market are junk, ripoffs, thin and overpriced, don't even consider. If you're placing the thing on grass, just cut a heavy tarp to size. This is too tall for a kid under about 8 to enter or exit without spilling like 20 gallons of water. It is also too short to justify a ladder. I'm trying to think up a freebie DIY for my 5 year old munchkin to self-extricate but so far I'm blank. If you have any ideas I'd welcome a comment. Ground to top of inflated donut is 30 inches, water depth is more like 22 inches to the bottom part of the donut. We also bought the debris cover. The cord snapped almost immediately but the vacuum bond on the water makes this irrelevant. I used the cord to bind up the packaging for easy transport to my local recycling center (the dumpster behind Wal-Mart, same trip to buy replacement filters, how efficient). Overall, I am highly dissatisfied, but what the heck else are you gonna do? I have seen other reviews where people had holes, were told to go fly a kite by Intex, and eventually got a refund from Amazon, but what a PITA. Bottom line, put a few inches of water in there and closely inspect the creases for leaks. You shouldn't have to check, but the packers must be under such pressure to shrink the thing to the density of a black hole that they completely ruin the product in the effort. Worth a shot for the gambler or those with low expectations. Meh.

The pool itself, no issues. The pump? Trash! We have been fighting algae and cloudy water since last month. This small garbage pump does nothing to assist the water. Do yourself favor and upgrade the pump. Don't waste thousands of dollars like we did on chemicals that won't filter because the pump is awful! I want to share a detailed review for those who, like myself, are researching this product. I will update this review should anything change. I was initially worried when I received the package as it had severe box damage from shipping. However, the pool inside was not damaged, and the company I bought it from on Amazon was very helpful and responsive. It’s important to note that shipping issues are not the fault of the company that ships the item. The most crucial aspect of setting up this pool is ensuring that the ground is level. It took three days for my husband, a friend, and me to get it properly leveled, especially when dealing with our rugged NC devil’s dirt. I learned that it’s essential to pay attention to the water flow when filling the pool – if the water is consistently flowing to one side, it’s a sign that thee pool is not level. Ignoring this could cause the pool to lean to one side when filled, as shown in the pictures. I reached out for help on our local Facebook page and found some guys from a local pool install company who helped level the ground using their equipment for a very reasonable price. It was definitely worth it as they finished the job in just two hours, a task that would have taken us several weeks. I’m sharing pictures of the pool when it’s level and filled. You’ll also see a photo of my 5’2” son standing beside the pool when it’s all set up. The pump works pretty good too. Despite the stress and effort, it was worth it in the end. When set up correctly, it’s definitely an enjoyable pool!

I had my reservations about getting this pool. Worried that it was too much work, we wouldn't use it because we live in Canada and the summers are short here. However I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly at how large it is (ours is 18' x 48") and secondly how much we really enjoy it and ease of maintenance. The cover keeps the heat in at night and draws heat during the day because of the dark colour. We also heat the pool up by adding water during the day from a long black garden hose (150' feet long) lying in the concrete. That hose water is hot and helps heat up the water. Maintenance is really easy, just test every day and add what is needed. We bought a net to scoop out the few leaves and bugs. The bottom has stayed clean so far. (We have had it now for 2 weeks.) Setup was fairly straightforward but I recommend that you smooth out the bottom as much as you can before adding water. And make sure it is placed exactly where you want it because you can't move it once the water is in. Water is a bit of an expense but that is part of the package. The 18' pool took us a couple of days to fill intermittently with two separate garden hoses. Once it's full you need to add a bit now and then and we use hot hose water to keep it comfortable. The rim needs to be inflated a little every few days especially if the nights are cool, as it is here. Our pool is deep enough and big enough for my husband and I to float around on floaties - not big enough for actual swimming of course but a wonderful way to enjoy summer and stay cool. Six people can comfortably enjoy the pool. The ladder seems sturdy and has 300lb capacity. It could be a little tricky to get in and out if you are not very young and fit because the ladder is quite high, almost 5' at the top. But 60 yo me has no issues. We had a "dud" delivered initially with some leaks but we contacted the manufacturer directly and they replaced everything within a few days. Exceptional customer service and I highly recommend this company and their product. If you are thinking about getting this pool ... do it!
